Does anyone know the weight of a yard of fabric? Or how many yards of fabric equal a pound? I am asking because I am thinking of going to the Connecting Threads warehouse sale tomorrow where they are selling scraps of their fabric for $2.99/pound.

A yard of fabric such as SSI can weigh as little as 4.5 oz and Robert Kaufman and some Hoffmans may weigh a little over 6 oz. I have been selling on eBay for almost 1.5 years. I try to keep my shipping as close as I can to the actual cost. 13oz is usually around 2.5 yards. Anything over 13 oz must them be shipped in a priority envelope. But usually shop owners can get at least 8 yards stuffed in one of those. That brings down the cost per yard to around 75 cents. HOPE this helps you. GOOD LUCK !!!

At that price, I wish I was there... I love CT fabric. Very good quality.

rule of thumb in the industry used to be 3yards to a pound..however, that only works on a certain weight of COTTON fabric..does not work on fleece, flannel, silk, poly, etc...

and CT fabric is generally thinner than most, so who knows...either way...you can not beat that price!
