Went to a quilt show and I won!!! YEA!
I took off a half day of work so I could go to a local quilt show nearby. There weren't many people there which was a good thing! I paid $5 to get in, and had to be reminded to enter my name in for the free drawings. Heck yea! I'm game for anything free. Well I walked around and looked at all the quilts and vendors and was just about to leave out the front door when I heard them annoucing something. SO I went by in and they were calling names for door prizes. The very last name they called was mine!!!!!
That was too close!! Well I got my choice of goodies they were giving away so I chose the June Tailor Twist n Stitch Ruler! Whoo Hoo! I got my $5 worth for sure! Plus I had already bought a Creative Grids 6x24 ruler so great day! I did take many pictures of the quilts and will post later this weekend. I was amazed at how many of the quilts were Hand Quilted ! I know I was drooling while looking at the wonderful hand work. :D |
How fun - I am like you - I would probably wet my pants if I won - congratulations to you and have fun with your new goodies.

We were recently in Washington state on vacation and had the unexpected surprise of a free local quilt show in Ocean Shores, Wa.. It is always interesting to see what people are doing in another area of the country. It also inspires us to get busy and fulfills a need to fondle fabric when far from home and limited in what to bring with you when flying to a destination.
|
How fun!! Happy you! The hand quilting is what draws and amazes me too.
|
My best friend and I are headed to the quilt show here in ATL this Thursday. Can't wait to see what new goodies they have. And I surely will be adding my name to the door prize bowl!
|
Hooray for you. I am so happy for you. It seems to me that there are a lot of quilters on here from N.Carolina. Altho I live in the great PNW, my brother lives close to Murphy. Are any of you near there? He and his wife love it there and from what I see, it is quite beautiful.

Isn't it a wonderful surprise when you win. One year I won second prize in the church raffle, which was a twin-size red hand-made afghan, the quilt was the first prize, but the afghan is so warm and comfy and I've enjoyed it very much. The next month I went to my Guild's Dec. meeting where a Christmas quilt, made by many members of the Guild, and hand quilted - each block diferent from the others. Imagine my surprise when my name was called - I had to be told again that I had won it as I was busy doing one of my favorite things "visiting with quild members", quilting being the first one. Everyone told me to go out and get a Megabucks ticket, however, my luck only ran as far as the afghan and quilt, but they are prominently displayed every Christmas and each year I find something I hadn't noticed before. Congratulations on your prize and enjoy.

Lucky you. Enjoy!!!

Sounds like the fun, photos and prize made it well worth taking that 1/2 day off work.

Congratulations! I've noticed at recent shows that there are more quilts being hand quilted. Think this is a new trend?

Congratulations on your win! I hadn't heard of the Twist n Stitch ruler, so I had to google it. Looks well worth the price, since it cuts so many different sizes for pinwheels. Great win!
