I looked up picket fence and it's not done like this one-it's more of a 9 patch. This one is made with just 6 rectangles. I tried to look it up on the author's blog (she was a guest blogger on stash manicure) but she has no info that I could find easily and she has disabled search (which made me just get mad and close her blog and not add it to my reader).

Sorry can't help you , but like the way it all works up together with the second pattern

I know-isn't that cool looking? I could possible figure it out on my own if I have to but I'd rather see more about it. I think it could be done with rectangles sewn together at an angle (like you would sew the strips for binding) and then sew 3 of the resulting strips together.

I know that pattern, I've made it. Will run upstairs and find it.

I've looked, probably put it in a safe place. I bought the pattern from NZ, because I saw it made up in kiwi fabrics. I made it with an Australian jelly roll, and the stars were gold. Will find it and get back to you.

there are at least two different ways to make the block:

(1) reduce it to squares and half-square-triangles
(2) divide each block into 3 rows divided diagonally halfway across

i've attached rotary instructions for method 1 and templates for method 2. (i would use the template as a rotary cutting guide)

each will make a 9-inch block.

4 blocks make 1 star.

It kind of reminds me of a pattern on the quilters cache, I believe the pattern name is buzz saw.

Found this link. This one is made as a nine-patch with HST's, but shouldn't be a problem to figure out with rectangles instead. Amazing number of setting possibilities depending on where you put your lights and darks. Thanks for your post. I really like this block.

Thanks everyone. I'm thinking this might be a good one to use my accuquilt go 2.5" strip die and lots of FQ that I want to get used up.
