I am in the market for a new one and I want one that is really good for cutting through several layers of cotton fabric. I'm looking for something at Joanne's since I have a 40% off coupon. What is a good brand?

My favorite is the OLFA with the self-retracting blade. You squeeze the handle to use it and when you let up on it or put it down, the blade automatically goes back. So if you drop it or leave it out no one gets cut. I have both the 45mm and 60 mm but use the 45mm the most. The blades also are pretty good, (unless you hit a pin, guess how I know?)

I just bought a memory keeper because the blades were so much less then Olfa or Fiscars or others. I have not used it yet but ....

I use a Martelli Ergonomic Rotary cutter and I love it. It is easier on the shoulders (which I have bad ones)

I really like the Martelli cutter, but I don't think JoAnn's carries it. The only other cutter I will use is the Olfa.

I use Fiskars or Olfa ergo, the ones with a curved handle. The Gingher is the best I've ever used but it's too good for double layers. I use it for multi layers.

Martelli is great for cuttin lots of layers!

Oh, I want to get one of these!!! They've come down in price since being introduced and are about $15-$20 now. My girlfriend says it is wonderful with her arthritis, which is why I want to get one.

I have an Olfa I use that is nice. It isn't the automatic retractable blade but I've gotten in the habit of closing my blade whenever I've finished making a cut. I just do it automatically and never even think about it.

I have and regularly use both the Gingher and the Olfa rotary cutters and like them both. I just use the one I happen to see on the table first.
