I'm planning on doing an all over free motion design on this quilt. Should I use blue or green thread?
This has been a frog project for me so far. I've tried quilting a design in the hoop, but the quilt is too big for my embroidery machine. It keeps getting caught on the arm and then the stitches go astray. So far, I have ripped holes in two blocks in the middle of the quilt while ripping out quilted stitches. Making new blocks and repairing them in the middle of the quilt after it's been basted is a pain. So, I'm giving up on the quilt in the hoop. All over design here I come. Any suggestions on thread? |
I don't see any green in the top, so I'd use blue thread.

I love your quilt--and your perserverance (sp?) making new blocks to replace the damaged ones. I'd prob have rolled it up in a ball and tossed it in the closet LOL!
As for suggestions for thread color, I've been real into variegated threads lately. There are so many combos; have you looked at these? |
I would match the blue with the blue in the quilt. It is absoluely beautiful.

I like the idea of Variegated blues-especially if it will have an all-over design.

When in doubt, I use variegated thread. I agree with the others on sticking to blue. If you add another color, I think it would take away from the 2-color aspect from the quilt. It is very pretty.

Variagated thread in either blue or grey.

I'm really new to this but I can see diamonds in the plain blocks that mimic your quilted blocks. Then maybe stitch in the ditch for the quilted blocks to not take away from them. I would find a blue to match your fabric.

Ditto!
