Hi,
I thought this would be a cool thread to find out what we buy for our quilting and sewing addiction. I went to Joann's Fabric today and used my 50% coupon and bought a pair of those Fiskars snippers for rag quilts. Also bought a yard of white fabric to see if I can make those siggie blocks for the swap here on this board. Also stopped by Meijer and purchased 1 quilt magazine and 1 sewing magazine! So hubby said that was my belated Valentines gifts, that is fine with me! ha ha Karen "Craftybear" |
Since you asked, I happened to buy two Go Diego Go panels to make pillows for my two little grandsons. They are getting Diego jammies, too, but I had to order that fabric online as I couldn't find it here.
I also bought some tracing paper for marking darts in a top I'm making for me, and a 200 pack of quilting 'straight' pins on sale for 50% off. |
Yesterday I bought 4 1/2 yds backing fabric, a 12 1/2 inch square, a snowball design book and thread. Stayed at home today, but tomorrow........ :D
I NEED border fabric for 2 quilt tops, more backing fabric, and am looking at patterns tonight to pick my next project. |
I bought a 14" square rotating cutting mat at Joann's which was on sale, plus I had a 20% coupon. It came to about $16 with tax.
Shhhh...don't tell! ;) |

When I was at Joann Fabric today they said that a new ad is coming out this week.

Was at Joann's today too. Picked up a new 3 1/4 in. ruler, 4 - 1 yard of fabrics various colors. American quilter and Quilting Arts magazine and of course 2 spools of thread. Walked away spending 58.00 Better than last month spending 79.00

About 13 yards of Civil War fabrics! :D
Bummer...I didn't get to buy anything. Booooo
I bought 17 yards of ribbon (all I could find needed more) a yard and a half of Thomas the Train fabric, a yard of Tinkerbell fabric, and 14 bath towels. oh and a fat quarter.
I think I am going to use the Thomas the Train fabric for the backing on a Salina Yoon activity quilt train set thing that I am making for my middle ones birthday. Tinkerbell will one day turn into fussy cut centers for a wonky log cabin. oh and the list gets longer! lol |
I bought 20 needles for my Tin Lizzie online.
I had to go to work so I can buy something later.
I did not buy anything quilt related today. But I did buy on Sunday night at JoAnn's. I bought 2 yard of warm and natural batting, 2 yards of interfacing- light and medium, 10 yards of their cuddly flannel fabric in baby prints- cars, dinos, flowers, bears, dots, etc; thread, yarn (oops that is not quilting but knitting which I also do). I use the flannel for quilts, bibs, blankies and spit cloths. Love the stuff :)
I bought whole new batch of thread based on the wonderful advice provided by all of the experts out there. Bought a wonderful dragon panel and some batiks, now I have to come up with a pattern that will be suited to this oriental theme. Any suggestion??
were you watching me, I was supposed to go to my block of the month demo but didn''t because we have such poor driving conditions from all the snow and ice. I went to a closer quilt shop and bought some background fabric for a quilt I am working on because I didn't like how the original fabric looked.
I ordered a grace quilting frame two days ago so I had to go to work today. Gotta make some money.
I didn't buy anything today, but am expectinb a goodsized package fro fabric.com tomorrow. More red, white and blue for DD's quilt. Next week I have a class at my lqs, so I know I wont get out of there without a "little" something. Actually I want to get a good selection of flannel fat 4s. I want to make a few baby quilts to have on hand for when my DD does the giving tree next Christmas. There are always babies on the list, so I want to be prepared. Then there is always Mary Jo's. I have been drooling over some the beautiful batiks that she has. One of these days I will loose the battle for self control and break down and order some.
Nothing quilting related, that was last week!. Today I bought a Cricut cartridge "Joys of the Seasons"
Our big chainstore Spotlight is having a 4 day sale starting today and I was itching to spend some money but couldnt find anything!
All the things i need they dont stock and none of their fabrics was what I was looking for so looks like i will have to try online shopping soon! |
I bought the 3 panel geishas to applique. I'm so excited.
A whole lot of quilting magazines off Ebay....shhh!!!
I am staying home today, but yesterday I had my first quilting class. I bought material to make a lap quilt which I will start in class next week.
I also bought some very pretty blue shimmery fabric that I have no idea what to use for, but couldn't resist. I have to get to Joanne's and use my 50% off coupon. Not sure what I am buying yet! |
Funny you should ask! I scored from Craig's list. I was after fabric by the pound but the lady in front of me bought it all! The nerve of her to send two men to do this. She wasn't even there to go through it! They were bigger than me so I kept my mouth shut. But . . .
10 Omnigrid rulers 8 of which I didn't have, two cutting mats 23x36" and 18x23, three rotary cutters of different sizes (olfa and fiskar), pins, needles (schmetz), rotary blades (olfa), seam rippers (never can have to many!), and two beautiful quilt tops. One is layered and pinned ready to be quilted. All for $100. |
I bought 3 yards each of 2 different colors flannal from Joannes. Red and white. I am sure I will find something to do with it. And like a true quilter in training I could not pass it up for $2.00 a yard :)
A few days ago I ordered a couple of bargello patterns from Lockwood Designs and they came last night so I ordered some batiks today to make one of 'em! :-D
I didn't buy a thing.
I bought 4 quilting books, from amazon.
The Quilter's Album of Patchwork Patterns, by Jinny Beyer. 496 pages, and 4050 patterns. Also 23 Great American Quilt Books from the early 90's that I didn't have! :-D :-D :-D |
this is a fun thread! I'm making a "scrap" (Ha!) quilt out of batiks but wanted to fill in gaps so I bought $70 worth of 1/8 yd strips and spent hours organizing my collection. Too fun!

Well, we stayed home today, been snowing last night and windy so hubby had to use the snow blower to clean out the driveway. I'm tired of snow in Indiana.
Have fun buying your cool stuff and let us know. Happy Quilting! Karen |
I ordered a pattern book.
I just got my order from Connecting Threads, and a coupon/flyer from JoAnns' in the mail today. Heading out to that end of town so will swing in to JoAnns'to see what they have on sale for their 'remodeling sale.'
My sister and I just took a trip to am Amish community. Bought 10 yds of fabric. Went to their grocery store and stocked up on wheat flour, muffin mix, cornmeal etc. It was a fun day.
Doesn't sound like there is a recession in the quilting industry!
Today I was at JA's and bought some rulers - the square up triangle I read about here, the square in a square, and the F & P add a quarter inch. A neighbor gave us a slab of salvaged solid surface counter top that is going to become a sewing table. Today I finally found the perfect thing to go under it - right height, on casters, has a drawer, will hold the serger - perfect! And they were on clearance on line, thank you very much! Have an order of books due from Amazon any day. Fun, fun, fun! |
I bought the 1/4" slotted ruler at Joanns. Need to buy some thread from AtlantaThreadCo when I have time to make a phone call.
