What did you do on New Years day?
I think that what you do on New Year's day is what you are going to be doing most on the new year. Keeping that in mind I did not clean! I was going to quilt all afternoon but instead my DGD ages 7,5,3 came to visit. What fun! What did you do on New Year's day? Happy New Year to all!!!!!!!!

HI bigsis!!!! I tried doing the myster quilt from Planet Patchwork. I got behind so I am finishing it up slowly now. I also got some football in! :) Glad you got to see those grandkids! :)

It was a nice day here. My birthday, and got calls from everyone I wanted to. Puttered around, worked on my current project which I have named "scrappy carpenter star" and then went to our friends' house where we had a "brisket festival" - two kinds - plus traditional southern New Years food - cabbage, black eyed peas, and other goodies and visited.

I was sick in my chair all day. Watched football, and slept. Had an allergy attack from cleaning! ugh
|
I hope it's not true that what you do on New Year's Day is what you'll be doing most of the year. I caught a miserable cold, had to cancel New Eve plans and slept all day New Year's Day. On the bright side I'm feeling much better today, putting all the holiday stuff away and setting my "sewing room" back up on the dining room table. Cheers!

I spent a good deal of time straightening out my sewing room, getting ready for a great year of quilting!
|
Finished piecing my GS Log Cabin quilt top I started Dec. 19th Measures 94x112 Wanted to get a head start on Christmas 2012
So far so good! |
My sister was visiting, so we went to Joann's and finished rounding out the makings of a quilt. Then we came home and went through my stash to see if we could find one more piece. No luck, but did find some at connecting threads. Yippeee. Had a great time over Christmas and New Years, as my sister and I both love to do the same thing. (Quilt and Embroidery)

With your 'rule', it sounds like a lot of folks will spend most of 2012 either hung over or watching football...or maybe both? http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/s...asic/laugh.gif

Football here New Years day too...and all day yesterday. Then tonight I will be watching Michigan/Virginia Tech. I AM a football fanatic. So as of now it DOES look like I'll be watching sports this year. Oh and NASCAR will be back...Daytona 500...February 26th and I'm a racing fanatic too. My grandson plays high school football and that starts in August. I WILL find time to do something productive though. LOL
We had the typical PA New Years Day dinner. Pork and sauerkraut. |
I had a bad cold, cleaned on my sewing room a bit and then watched football and fell asleep, then watched more football.
|
I made MORE items from the Princess fabric......dolly quilt, bed pillow, pillowcase and totebag. Did clean up the sewing area, got out the unfinished NICU quilts - that is the next goal. THEN, will start my brothers quilt for THIS year's present. My goal/resolution for this year is to not wait till the last minute and become so stressed out that quilting isn't any fun. So - quilting lots this year, and taking time to sip the wine as well.

I have had a cold for some time and finally getting better today. Didn't do much.
|
I worked on my NYE Mystery quilt. Still not done, but it's getting there.
|
You mean there is something else to do on New Year's Day other than watch football? All of my life & I do mean since I was born New Year's day is a day for football and left-overs (no cooking other than heating the left-overs). I am 57 years old now - so it a long standing family tradition. Since I can't sit still for long - even for football - I was crocheting the last scarf for my youngest daughter.

DH and I did a motorcycle run for the food bank drive.
|
I went shopping at Joanns, then went to my quilt group's holiday party. It was a nice day.
|
Spent the day with 2 DD's, son-in-law, & 3 grandkids. Went hiking at Mt. Lassen. It was a gorgeous day and we couldn't stand to stay inside. It was a glorious way to start the new year!
|
I sure hope you are wrong about what you do on Jan 1 is what you do all year. I had carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand Friday after having it two weeks ago on the left. So what I did on Jan 1 was deal with too much physical pain. I laid around and rested all day.
|
Man I hope that isn't true. I was stuck in a car on my way to fl for a funeral. Unless that means I will spend more time with my long distance family I don't want to be soing this all year.

Putting my sewing room back together and nursing a dog with intestinal issues!!
|
Slept in till about 8 then got up and went to church. In the afternoon, DH and I went out to eat and then to see a movie. In the evening I planned my work week wardrobe and tried to psych myself up for this short school week. DH and I are off to Hawaii on Fri morning for 10 days! Yippee!

We took the RV and went to the city for Christmas. We had a wonderful time visiting lots of family and friends. We got held up on the way home with two days of high winds so we spent the time in a campground while in route. It was actually kind of nice as campgrounds go because we had full hook ups and that's unusual for this time of year. So, I took an extra long shower, LOL!! We played with the dogs, played cards, watched movies and ate up all the left overs so the frig would be easy to empty once we got home. We're headed for Rapid City at the end of the month so maybe we will be in our RV a lot this year just as we were on New Years Day 2012!!

Slept all day since I worked all night on new years eve.
