I have got 2 tubs of upholestry swatches. I have a restore here that calls whenever they get some in. I get a huge bag for $5.00. I made a quilt out of the more cotton ones for my daughter but have the "textured" squares left of many prints and textures. I know some people make pillows with them, but has anyone ever tried to make handbags, totes or quilts with the heavier fabric? Would love some ideas or if someone could use them please let me know.

Yes. you can use them to make tote bags and purses. I've done both. Other than that I don't know what to use them for either.

I wish I lived by you. I'd love to get a deal like that. |
Some seniors like having squares like these in their lap quilts, they like feeling the different textures :D:D:D

We had some of those. I wanted to make a quilt out of them. With my ADHD I really like the pressure of the blanket when I sleep.(covering with just a sheet is not even an option!) But we decided to sell them at a rummage sale. We did make a nice amount of money. But they would have made an awesome quilt!!

u might consider looking for a local group that makes "Ugly Quilts" for the homeless. These are like sleeping bags and use heavier fabrics. They might be interested in having your surplus.

I think they would make a really great patchwork vest! Maybe with a satin or heavier cotton on the back?

Our Project Santa group gets these every year. We keep what we can use and send the rest to a group that makes tote/book bags for under privileged children.

Oh No...the dreaded double post...soooooooo sorry!

I used to get them from a furniture store when I still had the quilt store. We found they were to heavy for quilts, but, made really nice purses and totes. You are very lucky...enjoy.
