What to do...

I got this gorgeous panel at the LQS; actually I loved it so much I bought 2 of them. Now all I have to do is figure out what to do with it...

I'm thinking I'll probably cut the individual sections apart and piece them into a throw or bed quilt top this spring. I'd love to hear your suggestions!

sandyo 11-13-2011 01:40 PM

It would make a beautiful wall hanging also. You do not need to do much to it, pretty all on it's own.

Sewflower 11-13-2011 01:43 PM

I think you already have it fiqured out-sounds good to me. lovely panels

hannajo 11-13-2011 02:05 PM

Don't feel like you have to cut it apart and put it back together. It would also be gorgeous just how it is with a few borders. I can't wait to see what you do!

snow 11-13-2011 02:37 PM

Lovely just as it is, add borders and use it as a lap or wall hanging.

QuiltnNan 11-13-2011 02:37 PM

wow, it's beautiful!

Sweeterthanwine 11-13-2011 02:40 PM

Gorgeous panel. Love it just like it is. I agree, add borders and do a wall hanging or a beautiful lap quilt.

MoanaWahine 11-13-2011 02:43 PM

I love the idea of cutting it up and creating windows (attic window pattern) with the panels. I think it would look like you are looking out a window while it is on your lap or wherever you end up putting it.

luvnquilt 11-13-2011 02:46 PM

Just beautiful, I probably couldn't have passed that up either! They're so pretty, you don't have to do much to accentuate their beauty. Show us the end result please :)

KerryK 11-13-2011 02:46 PM

I have to agree with the above. It is so beautiful as it is. I would add borders to match some of the floral colors, and make the outside border black. Soooo pretty!

mymsmess 11-13-2011 02:56 PM

I agree with the others. It does not need much help. It is beautiful.

Iraxy 11-13-2011 03:25 PM

I think it would look really nice as an attic windows, but also since it has straight edges vertically, you might cut it and then cut the smaller blocks and put them sort of all around it on the right and underneath.

Excuse my art, hope you get the idea. I have seen a pattern something like this done with a Japanese print but cannot remember the name of it.

ckcowl 11-13-2011 03:30 PM

i would window pane the blocks- and make it into a quilt- it is beautiful. i have a number of panals i am going to start (playing with) as soon as i finish up some in the works projects- your panal gives me incentive to get busy :)

azwendyg 11-13-2011 05:15 PM

Great ideas from everyone here. I'm glad I've got some time to think about it a bit before I get started on it. I'm considering adding some coordinating dark solid color or "read as solid" batiks or tone-on-tones with some floral redwork-type embroidery contrasting FMQ on them with similar designs.... thinking, thinking, thinking....

This is going to be FUN to work with for sure!

gal288 11-13-2011 05:44 PM

I vote for attic windows too!

Mariposa 11-13-2011 05:47 PM

Pretty panel! I agree that a wall hanging or lap quilt would be great. :)

jaciqltznok 11-13-2011 05:56 PM

go ahead..cut it up...the black is a bit harsh around those flowers anyway!

Jingle 11-13-2011 06:00 PM

Beautiful panel, they will make a gorgeous quilt.

joyce888 11-13-2011 06:15 PM

That's gorgeous! Maybe do some take on "Attic Windows"?

Tartan 11-13-2011 06:47 PM

I think the asymetrical Japanese panel idea would look great with the smaller blocks along the side and bottom like Iraxy mentioned but whatever you decide, it will be wonderful!

woody 11-13-2011 07:34 PM

What about a shadowbox pattern? http://www.robertkaufman.com/quiltin...rns/shadowbox/

sewellie 11-13-2011 07:47 PM

Use as a wall hanging, enhance, enhance, enhance. Beads, floww, tiny buttons, etc.etc.

Gorgeous panel. I would border it just as is.

Mamatron 11-13-2011 11:06 PM

I would border it as is too. I love orchids.

lindagor 11-14-2011 03:51 AM

My vote is for adding borders and using as a wall hanging.

jeannie t 11-14-2011 04:26 AM

I also have to agree a couple of borders and make a wall hanging, its sure a pretty panel.

nanna-up-north 11-14-2011 04:31 AM

It's beautiful. I'd cut it into blocks and put it with coordinating fabrics to make a quilt for the bed.

emsgranny 11-14-2011 04:36 AM

For a quick quilt just border it - The attic window pattern would really set it off I think. Not sure what the Japanese one works but from what I can tell that would be good too. Anyone with info on Japanese style please pm me thanks

mcpatches 11-14-2011 06:04 AM

I think the shadow box pattern would be stunning!

EmbQuilt 11-14-2011 06:04 AM

It is gorgeous...two maybe too much...solve your dilemma send me one ; )

unclefreckles 11-14-2011 06:32 AM

Beautiful fabric. I would jut add a border and make a wall hanging. I'm sure you can find someone that would love the 2nd one just as much as you do.

trolleystation 11-14-2011 06:34 AM

Wonderful panel.

CorgiNole 11-14-2011 06:37 AM

That is a lovely panel. I think a pieced throw would set it off very nicely.

Cheers, K

Wow, that's gorgeous! I would have bought 2 as well. One to cut up and one to keep intact. I think you have the right idea if you cut one up. If you decide you don't like one of them, you can send it to me, LOL!
