I've found this ad on craigslist..it has been listed for a few months and the seller came down from the original $2,000.
I thought about going to take a look this weekend, but wanted to get your thoughts before I did.

Wow, if you can afford it go for it, where will you take classes to learn all about it?

I have the same machine on a slightly different Grace frame. I like them both, but have only had them for a few months and haven't had as much time to work on them as I would like. The Pfaff 1200 is a great mid-arm machine, but I know many eventually move up to a long arm if they become avid machine quilters. Mine was approx $3500 Cdn new early this year the would be about $3100-3200 US.

Sounds like something you should at least take for a test drive. I have a Juki on a frame and while still learning, love it so far. Let us know how you make out.

You should get with the setup, or be able to obtain from manufacturers, the manuals and quides to go with both the frame and the machine.
It seems a good deal to me.

Not much room for the actual quilting. It's basically a short arm with a long arm frame for quilting. You would be limited onthe types of designs you can do in a "single pass".
I guess it depends on your expectations for the type of quilting you want to do.

It seems like a good buy, but it doesn't look like you would be able to do a big quilt on it because of the amount of room on the machine, not the frame. If you don't plan on doing big quilts, then it would probably work just fine, my opinion.

Personally, I would want a much deeper throat. I would put the $2,000 in the bank and save for one. But, that's just me!

The throat area looks about the same as that on my Juki and I am told that it can accommodate up to a Queen, although I haven't tried that yet. I did see some queens that the lady that I bought her from had done on her. I do know that if you used a high loft batting you would run out of room, but with a low loft, you might end up with a very small quilting area by the end of the quilt. I am told that a machine like this is a learning tool and stepping stone to learn some of the techniques and that most folks move on to a long arm after 3-4 years.

I have the same frame. (Next Generation) but I have a Viking Mega Quilter machine on it. You can do any size quilt up to 110" wide. You can make it as long as you want but because of the shorter arm you might have to switch the take up pole with the backing pole to finish a large quilt. I made a queen size on mine with med loft batting & never had to switch the poles. I think under $2,000.00 would be a good price for it.
