Heard about a shop that sells fabric really cheap, so off I go to see what it is all about. OH MY GOSH!!!!! They have flat folds for $1.49 a yd. you must buy at least 1yd. Then they have Henry Glass, Along the Fence Row for $2.49 a yd. They had so many cordinating colors. I bought over $100 worth. What beautiful fabric. I am very fussy about my fabric & this stuff was great. He & his brother buy overstocks . He also had some beautiful batiks for $2 something a yd. I don't use them but what a buy. Henry Glass sells for $8 to 9 in the QS. The great thing about this shop is it was just opened by a guy & his wife who are 82 & 83 yrs. young. Never done any thing like this before.I give them alot of credit. It doesn't appear that they need the money, just wanted to do something. Am telling everyone I know about them.
He gets new in all the time. His brother was on his way home from the mills with another truck load. Can't wait to see what is new. Donna, The Rustic Quilter

Wow! You are so lucky! I wish I lived nearby to take advantage of those batik prices. :)

I'm in MO also. Would love to know where they're located.

DJRustic 01-26-2011 05:49 PM

They are inThayer Mo. Right on the Ark. border. They are only 24 miles from me. They do not have a web site, guess older people think they are too hard to use. HA!!!
The Henry Glass fabric is to die for. What quality. They also have alot of Joanne's fabric. He said Joanne's commissions the mill to make so much for them & when they make it they have extra, so this guy sells it to this shop
Hope this helps .Donna, The Rustic Quilter

I know there's one on the square in Seymour. It's on the SW corner I think.

DJRustic 01-27-2011 06:38 AM

luvtooquilt, You asked about the quilt shops around here. I have been to West Plains, Willlow Springs, Cabool, Mt View. Have not been to the ones in Mansfield, Seymore & Mt Grove.
My girlfriend & I are going this week-end to Ozark & springfield, Mo. Love the shop in Ozark.
Want to plan a trip to Rogers, Ark & down in there as there are some nice shops around there. They were at the Springfield Quilt show this past fall.

ambquilter 01-27-2011 06:49 AM

I just checked. I am 5 1/2 hours away. Don't think DH will go for that. lol

I'm in CA and SO willing to go on a F.A.R.T.!!!
Why don't you suggest that they get online, maybe give them some names of people who can help with that? The rest of us are so anxious and eager!

You can come to a couple of good shops a little further south in Mountain Home, AR.

Jackie D 01-27-2011 07:05 AM

If passing through Springfield be sure and check out the store at 1333 S. Glenstone called Fabric Outlet. Also the FM Store at 1368 E. Sunshine. Fabric Outlet is my new favorite. FM Store is messy but LOADED with fabrics- cottons, home decor, etc. All at very good prices. Have a great trip!

Owllady 01-27-2011 07:55 AM

Yes, do you know the name of the shop?

Rosella 01-27-2011 09:09 AM

I just read the post about the quilt shop in Thayer MO. I was born in Wilderness Mo (74 years ago) and have been in Thayer many times. I have many relatives who still live in Alton MO and surrounding areas. My brother and I go to MO each year for Memorial Day, so I plan to look up the fabric shop. I enjoy looking at this site each day.

stitchinwitch 01-27-2011 09:34 AM

Oh! you cannot forget the one in Licking!

stitchinwitch 01-27-2011 09:39 AM

Today we need to get the oil changed, so I suggested going to Thayer - I will take my camera so you can see the shop!.......if I don't forget!

West Plains - Viv's Sewing Connection
Cabool - Right across the street from El Imperial - sorry forgot the name
Ava - Dogwood Quilting or Fabrics

Mariposa 01-27-2011 09:43 AM

Wow! Wish I lived closer!!
