What Free BOMs will you be following this year?

I haven't decided yet which ones I will be following, so give me some ideas!

Nothing to difficult, I like paper piecing that doesn't look pieced but want to explore more in applique.

rvsfan 01-02-2013 04:20 AM

www.craftsy.com FREE BOM. They show a picture up front of the completed quilt and it's beautiful, plus you learn a lot of new techniques you might not have tried yet.

Maureen NJ 01-02-2013 04:56 AM

Couldn't find the picture of the completed quilt by Craftsy. Where is it? Thanks. Maureen

lisalovesquilting 01-02-2013 05:09 AM

I signed up for this. Looks like fun. Thanks. I'm also doing one at my LQS called Something to Crow About.

The quilt is hanging behind the instructor. The quilt on the wall does not have a border. The quilt with the border is in the materials you print out.

I don't even find the free BOM at all.

It took some searching but I found it. It looks interesting.

I really liked the one Shabby Fabrics had last year, they are going to do another one this year. Can't wait to see what it will be.

thimblebug6000 01-02-2013 07:57 AM

I'm going to try to keep up with the one on our forum. And I also purchased a hand embroidery pattern that hasn't arrived yet. http://stores.chickadeehollowdesigns...Categories.bok

Murphy1 01-02-2013 08:06 AM

I am going to do the one here on the QB. It looks fun and I like seeing the variety of blocks we all come up with with our fabric selection.

Silver Needle 01-02-2013 08:13 AM

Our quilt guild is doing their own. Each month 1 or 2 people choose a block and demonstrate it. Then we will individually design quilts from the blocks. I haven't done any of them yet! Don't know if I'll ever catch up and make the quilt.

One block per month for 6 months. Several bloggers are providing the block patterns.

Same here. I followed the free BOM with Amy Gibson last year and enjoyed every minute of it. Of course I didn't make ONE block, but I watched every video (some of them more than once) and printed out all of the lessons, patterns, etc. Hope to do the same this year. I'm familiar with the instructor for this one. I've seen her on TV shows before and have two of her books. The first lesson was in such detail and so informative. I think really want to make this quilt. Love the polka dots but will probably use fabrics from my own stash (well as much as I can, anyway:o).

I just signed up and can't wait to start it. I love BOM 's and always learn something new.

jetmaio 01-03-2013 06:01 AM

I just love this one http://www.sulky-international.de/sc...p?seite_id=319 and hope it begins shortly. I,ve wanted something like this for my sewing room wall.

cindit 01-03-2013 06:25 AM

I am doing one with our LQS but it started last June. I am also doing this one:

Rhonda Lee 01-03-2013 06:27 AM

My LQS has a BOM I'm doing this year. The name of the quilt is Over the Rainbow and has laser cut fusible shapes for applique that we receive each month. Talk about learning something new! My first attempt at applique! I hope I enjoy doing this, I'm somewhat intimidated at this point, however, the quilt is beautiful.

tildiemae 01-03-2013 06:46 AM

I decided to try the 2012 BOM Sedona Star on 'The Quilt Show'. It has applique, paper piecing and machine embroidery all mixed together so I hope this will help me get better! I'm trying to use my stash too. I also have a BOM to finish from several years ago.....it was all different kinds of barns....2013 I hope will be the year of finishing UFO's!!!!

ccthomas 01-03-2013 08:03 AM

I have signed up for the Crafty 2013 BOM. Looking forward to this course.

Anael 01-03-2013 08:07 AM

I signed up for the Craftsy 2013 BOM too. Don't know if I will keep up but I like the blocks.
I also do the one on here too, the 2013 HGTV BOM and I might do more, still don't know.

MartiMorga 01-03-2013 08:39 AM

There was a post about a BOM Free that would begin today. The information for measurements and quanities have already been posted. Can't find it - but will keep looking.

That's a really cute one, do you know when it starts? Looked through her last year's one with the mini quilts & they sure were cute!

nygal 01-03-2013 08:57 AM

I was able to find the short video on the BOM but I like the quilt hanging in the beginning of the video up behind her on the left even more!! I wish they were offering that one.

imaquilter 01-03-2013 08:58 AM

Thank you for the Craftsy information. I love anything free! I have signed up for it and am excited to get started.

klgreene 01-03-2013 09:18 AM

I'm doing the one right here on this board. It's supposed to have a little challenge to it, so we can learn as we go a long. Block one, was already fun!

imaquilter 01-03-2013 09:45 AM

Where is the BOM that is on our forum here?

imaquilter 01-03-2013 09:46 AM

Oh, I found it! Hee hee Just needed to look a little harder.

Micha 01-03-2013 10:42 AM

I'm going to try to keep up with this one from Pile O Fabric http://www.pileofabric.com/post/2012...k-of-the-month

and the one on Craftsy.

adamae 01-03-2013 10:51 AM

So far, one will be emphasizing plaids, one with drabs, one scrappy and one with lots of color Haven't been able to load pictures yet. Will keep trying..

I found this one from Country Threads. I like that it uses different size blocks.

How do I get to the Qboard block of the month? I haven't seen it yet.

meanmom 01-03-2013 02:22 PM

I am planning on doing the one on here. I also signed up for the one on Craftsy and pile of fabric to see what they are. Not sure if I will do them or not.I am trying to finish all of my UFO's this year. I also have several other projects I want to do. I really want to do my bargello this year and the new Judy Neimeyer mariners compass quilt. I need more time. Maybe if I quit my job and quit sleeping I can get it all done. Oh and also quit doing any housework. Works for me:)

I did the Craftsy BOM last year and it's ready to go to the LAer. My first quilting class was in 1992 and was a Sampler from Quilts, Quilts, Quilts by this year's instructor. I am very excited to be actually taking a class from her 21 years later! I, too, have both her books. Use to be a staple for all quilters way back when.

gramma nancy 01-03-2013 04:38 PM

I'm not going to do it cause it looks staggeringly difficult, but check out the Affairs of the Heart BOM at Stichinheaven.com. If that isn't the most beautiful quilt I have even seen . . .. Not free, but probably worth the price if you are capable of that incredible work.

jmoore 01-04-2013 04:24 AM

I am attempting to do the BOM here on QB but I have not been ablel to print the correct size template from either quilterscache or the pdf file someone also posted... so I hate to cut into beautiful fabric before I know it's going to piece together correctly. Argh.

I like this one. Trying hard to pass it by but probably will give in and do it. Thank You for showing us.

I am also doing Craftys. I am self taught and it will be nice to learn the correct way of doing things.

DebbieG 01-04-2013 05:29 AM

believe I will try the Craftsy one again this year...different teacher and different look to the sampler quilt, but I did learn alot from last year, and that was my whole point of taking the class!
