What is a good first quilting pattern/design for uncertain quilters?

Followup question from http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...g-t198055.html

What do you think is the simplest quilt pattern using 80/20 batting on ~45"x50" quilts? SITD, wavy lines, FMQ?

Please share your opinions and patterns.

Thanks

Stitch in the Ditch but that doesn't show the quilting. Meandering to show the quilting. I am starting to use my quilting machine and my first piece was an all-over meander. I am quite pleased with it.

Since I can't follow a straight line I love to meander!

I started with SITD, then did free motion leaves and swirls.

When you meander, do you sort of go around the blocks roughly like SITD, but not a straight line? The serpentine stitch? Or do you make random lines how ever the quilt sandwich wants to go?

Ok, I did a google search, there is a plan to the meandering sort of. What is the difference between meandering and stippling? Is it that stippling is much closer together?
I found this diagram helpful: http://www.squidoo.com/stipple-quilt...gn=framebuster
