I dropped by Barnes and Noble tonight and headed straight foir the quilting section. IT WAS GONE! I found the few books they had on quiting, under Woodworking!
What gives here?
In the past, there were rows of books. I know, because I've bought a bunch of them. There were probably no more than 25 quilting books altogether. I did find the usual assortment of magazines.
Maybe we had better hang on to our books.

The B & N I go to has dwindled their quilt books for quite a while now. They are down to practically nothing :(
I've been very disappointed, however I hardly ever buy books anymore. I used to get a lot of them, and mostly from B & N.

My B&N has always been short on quilt books bigger 2 story ones do better, online has tons though.

Nothing at Borders just before Christmas, either. Oh, well, Amazon's prices are much better and they ship free over $25. I ordered a quilt book for my daughter and a Marine Corps book for my son. They arrived quickly and very well packaged.

Not sure how B&N operate, but when I worked in the book trade, our stock was "departmentalised", if a certain genre wasn't selling we just stopped buying. We would always do special orders though. The book trade has always had it tough, with recessions and uncertainty in financial sectors, it's doing it even tougher.

since they filed chapter 11 it is no surprise..they will be closing half of their stores this year! Many are already gone!

I thought it was Borders who filed chapter 11? Our local Barnes and Noble stores seem to be doing well, though I haven't looked in the quilting section recently.

This article was rather funny, though! http://futureupdate.wordpress.com/20...ain-downloads/

amazon.com has lots of quilt books and quilt novels and their service is great. I usually get my order with in a day or two. Shipping rates are very reasonable.
