What I like when shopping online for fabric...(website designers please read)

I seem to do a lot of browsing for fabric online, and buy at least as much online as in local shops, partly for selection, partly for convenience.

A feature of websites that I find extremely convenient is the ability to put possible selections on a design wall/table, where you can see fabrics next to each other. Even if the colors on the screen are not exactly the same as in real life, I suspect they are "off" in the same tones, so that if they look good together onscreen then they will probably coordinate well in real life.

So far I've noted that fabric.com and connectingthreads.com have this feature.

Some sites provide suggestions for coordinating fabrics -- that's nice too.

Any other ideas?

Any other websites that are your favorites? And why?

Any other sites that have the feature mentioned above?

eQuilter has a lot of features to make it easy to compare fabrics. I especially like the wish list where I can move fabrics all over to compare different ones together.

Thanks, Gramajo. That is a good site! Lots of nice batiks (just what I was looking for).

This shop has a whole mini quilt design programme you can use with their fabric:

This site is great. The things that you can do is pure fun. Don't have it all figured out yet, but it is fun trying. BrendaK

Please put the fabric price with the preview picture, there is no need for me to open a fabric only to discover it is $12.50 a yard.

My favorite online shop is www.batiks.com. They do have fabrics other than batiks. Outstanding customer service with orders almost always leaving the shop the same day that they're placed.

They have a design wall which I use all of the time.

I very rarely buy fabric that's not on sale. These are my favorite vendors: International Fabrics, Delta Patchwork, Tennessee Quilts, City Quilter (expensive, has good NYC fabric collection), Hancock's of Paducah (always has fabric on sale $4-6/yard), Marshall Dry Goods, Mary Jo's, Quilt-a-Way in VT, Quilted Threads in NH, Quilters Workshop in NH, SeaWatch Fabrics, African Fabric Lady (for African solids), Gohn Brothers, Whittle Fabrics, Hawthorne Threads,
4my3boyz, Stitching Post Quilts.

I buy most of my fabric online since it's way cheaper than a LQS. I rarely am disappointed with the colors.
I was in a quilt store recently and the prices started at 8.75 a yd and up.
