I checked 2 stores here, office suppy stores, that is. Only 2 of them that I could find and neither one had any paper less than 20 pounds. I have 4 cases of printer paper, that was given to me years, and years ago. Keep traveling around the world with them. I knew one of these days I'd need ALL that paper for something. hehe
But, now that I found the typing paper, the cases will sit again for a while until I run out of typing paper
I did notice the Kid Doodle Pads, but they wanted too much money for them. I didn't think 50 cents for a pad of 50 sheets was bad.

take another look in those cases of paper. over the years, the paper may have become slightly brittle - which makes is great for paper piecing. :P

I find that photocopy paper is the best to use and I don't find it that expensive.

No, they aren't brittle. Still as good as ever.
