I am in the process of looking for a Featherweight Centennial. Any suggestions/warnings on what to look or lookout for? Thanks.

Make sure it has the bobbin case.Sometimes they get lost in the shuffle.

Check the electrical carefully, look at the emblems - they should all be intact, see if it include the accessories and manuals, condition of case, and examples of stitching.

There is nothing that is different about a Centennial Featherweight other than the badge. Check to see that the finish is intact, the decals bright and the paint not chipped. The cords should not be cracked or broken but if that is the only problem, they can be replaced (my dealer charges $10 for the cords plus labour). The flywheel and lever to select stitch length should turn easily and not be seized. A big plus is if the case does not smell musty (many of them do as the glue they used seems to attract mildew and mold). Good luck searching for your special featherweight.

Most important thing is to make sure it SEWS PROPERLY.

While a great finish would be nice - it's not necessary for the machine to SEW PROPERLY...kwim?

You probably should decide if you want pretty or a good machine. Looks will affect price.

I eliminated the odor from my FW case by placing an "Odoreaters" charcoal shoe insert inside. Cushions the machine and took away all of the mustiness from the case.
