I too have been reading this post for the past couple of years and just got up enough nerve to join. I cannot believe how much knowledge you all have. My question concerns the needle size you prefer for machine piecing and quilting (I generally use Warm and Natural batting).

For me personally, I use 70/10 or 80/12 for piecing and 90/14 for quilting Mostly I use Topstitch by Schmetz.. I think it is a matter of personal preference and trial and error. Experiment, see what works for you.

This is a good advice since I realize that bigger needle performs better in stippling :D

For piecing I have no big preference what size as long as the thread likes it. For quilting I have to try different sizes until I find one that the tread and fabric like. It could be a size 60/8 up to a Jeans needle. If my thread breaks, I change to a different size needle. It's never the same needle that works on each quilt.
