I saw this at Hancocks today! I mean really? It was $30. Pin Dispenser.

sueisallaboutquilts 05-23-2011 11:55 AM

Yikes!! lol

Sadiemae 05-23-2011 11:59 AM

I saw it at Hancock Fabrics. Just my opinion, but I wasn't impressed. It seems to be very cheaply made, and I don't think it would last long. It would be another thing that sat in the corner and would never be used.

On the site it is priced at $45, and that is a sale price from the regular price of $59.99
Did you watch the video...this thing is huge!

I will be honest..how hard is it to pull a pin out of a box? I would never use it!!!

QuiltnNan 05-23-2011 12:21 PM

oh, my word! for the quilter who has everything :)

Sadiemae 05-23-2011 12:22 PM

I can already see it on clearance in a few months...

quiltsRfun 05-23-2011 12:25 PM

The sales lady was talking that up to me last time I was in. Besides taking up a lot of space for a "pincushion" it also takes special pins (sold separately). No thanks.

DogHouseMom 05-23-2011 12:28 PM

ROFL!! Laughing hysterically!!

Remember my thread about my engineer husband not listening to my directions to make me a large ironing board.

I could only imagine him coming up with something like this if I told him I needed a "pin cushion".

I think this gadget wins the Rube Goldberg Award of the Quilting world.

It is a challenge for Hancock Fabric stores to see who could sell the most.

MisDixie 05-23-2011 12:57 PM

Well floks, its an old idea! My quilting buddy was sorting out MIL's sewing supplies and found a gadget that did the same thing...from the 60's! Took us awhile to figure it out...lol
Everything old is new again, but I do admire the "special pins" part. Don't see myself investing in one.

justwannaquilt 05-23-2011 01:45 PM

There is even a video about how to use it!
http://www.junetailor.com/pintasticvideo.htm
I like that it even comes with a "paper funnel"!

LMBO! She is so freaking chearing. I wonder if she really believes what she is saying.

ontheriver 05-23-2011 01:56 PM

My pins are in a magnetic bowl from Harbor Freight. I have no problem picking them out.

KwiltyKahy 05-23-2011 03:04 PM

We said ALL of those things when they first introduced them in the store. And that paper funnel is not a funnel, it's a shaped piece of paper.

amma 05-23-2011 03:26 PM

LMBO I think I will pass on this gadget :D:D:D

featherweight 05-23-2011 04:32 PM

Looked like a waste of money to me. To big and bulky!!!!!

lalaland 05-23-2011 05:08 PM

Did you see the size of that thing??? And you have a push a lever to get each individual pin. I usually just dump a bunch on my project and grab and pin as I go. But I guess if you're someone who is constantly sticking themselves, this might be a real good thing!

It is huge! Looks like another item to jam up like my office stapler or my basting gun. I think I'll pass.

And don't forget you need to buy 4 batteries too!

Thusnelda 05-23-2011 09:48 PM

This really is utterly daft!

KwiltyKahy 05-23-2011 11:54 PM

I went to the site & watched the video demo - what a waste of $$, time & space. Its 15 times the size of my magnetic pin holder, & takes more time to fill then its worth, IMHO.
