What pens and/or inks are best for writing on labels that will withstand frequent washings?

I've used the blue-inked pigma pens and that did not work out well.

I use the Micron brand pens & haven't had any problems with fading. :thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup:

really? Micron Pigma pens usually stay quite well. although i always heat set mine with my iron just to be sure. I use .05 size.

Fabrico Markers have a brush tip and a fine tip and they're colorfast after you heat set them. I use them to color quilt labels and write the info on them.

I've even used them sometimes to color "pokies" from where my tension wasn't quite right and even to tint fabrics that were a little too intense. The pastels and greys are great for this. The darker colors would be good for camouflaging little defects or stains on the fabric.


Tee Juice fine line markers might be good for this, too - they're supposed to be launder-able and lightfast. I've never tried them.

micron pigma pens are permenent- do not fade- do not bleed, cause fuzzy edges- are acid free and archival...those are the only pens i ever use on my textiles for labels-
i use other fabric specific markers for other applications (when i can find acid free ones) but i only use the micron pigma's for writing- they never seem to skip and stay clear for years and years.
