What is Project Linus and how do you get involved?
I read a lot about everyone donating to Project Linus but I don't know what it is and what to do for it. Can anyone explain how it got started, what you donate and where you donate?

I am currently filming a documentary about Project Linus for our local public community TV.
There are chapters world wide. Their mission is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets, afgans and quilts, lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeers". Among the places blankets are given are to hospitals, children in natural disasters, Departments of Human Services, police and fire departments for children in frightening situations, children of fallen American Soldiers, to name just a few. Project Linus accepts blankets for babies, children, teens, and this past year victims of hurricains and tornadoes. Around 4 million blankets have been delivered nationwide. Thanks for your interest. |
They have a great organization chapter in Lynnwood, WA. I have worked with them a few times making quilts. I can find out who is in charge of it if you want to contact her. They seem to be very well organized. I always enjoy working with them. They are mostly women and have a few men.

I donate quilts to my local chapter which I found using the above link. I definitely believe in their work, as well as having been taught that I must give back to my community. And, happily, a woman in the group lives near to me and will pick up quilts from me. I try to make it worth her while by having more than one quilt when she comes.

I help coordinate my local chapter in the North Bay Area of Northern California. If you can find your local chapter, I'm sure they will be glad to answer your questions!
