FQ is as small as I will go.

My mom gave me a set of 5 inch squares - and when I washed them, some of them became very wonky - one of them shrank to 4.5 inches x 5 inches!!!

I love fat quarters. Good way to get a large variety of fabrics. I bought 5 inch squares, several sets and made my twister quilt. Saved a lot of cutting. I never wash the smaller cuts of fabric.

This is an interesting conversation. I've bought charm squares and fat quaters. I find a use for all for them in different things. DP9 is a great pattern for charm squares. 2 packages is enough for a lap quilt.

I have never purchased any precuts. They are not available where I live and after I figure out the price per yard I just don't do it when I travel. I guess there are benefits to living in a very small community. Ann in TN

I buy the layer cakes the most because that size fits most of my Go dies. I swap cost for time saved. I know I will run out of time no matter what. Money comes and goes.

FQ's and jelly rolls for me. Have bought layer cakes, but took longer to figure out what to do with them.:)

I never pre-wash any of my pre-cuts. Which always feels really odd to me because I normally pre-wash like a fiend!

I order all of mine because my LQS was rude to me & then again to my DH so I no longer give them my business. So many places on-line have pre-cuts on sale & have free shipping so it's worth my while.

Fat Quarters and jelly rolls to me are most useful
