If you want a quick label with very little hand sewing - start with a square of fabric, fold in half diagonally so you have a triangle. Put the triangle into the corner of the quilt, raw edges matching with quilt, and stitch on the binding. When the binding is on, all you have to stitch by hand is the diagonal folded edge of the fabric. write on it with appropriate pen and you're done. determine the size of square you need by writing out on paper what you want to put on the label then measure, adding seam allowances.

joannes has iron on label books- you can press them onto fabric- fill in the blanks with a permenent pen- the iron on transfers can be used more than once & they have a variety of labels, sizes, shapes, occassions to use. they are a good way to go.
as for minimum content- name of quilt, pattern if you used one- your name, city/state, date (at least month/year) fiber content---and i generally add care instructions. |
