What is the best type of thread to use for quilting? I bought a set of 100% cotton threads that are just beautiful for color choices and soft. I haven't been able to find them in the large spools for common colors tho. I worry about the strength of my quilts long term also.

I use Aurifil for everything. I love it. It's 2 ply instead of 3, so more goes on the bobbin. Less fuzz from the thread too. And a spool has so much thread that it takes me 3 months to run out when I'm constantly using that color to quilt (hours every day, most days, for 3 months)

I was just recently introduced to signature ,100% cotton Signature cone thread. I also had a problem with finding large spools of different colors & 100% cotton. I have a reg sewing machine that is not set up for cones. I was told to place the cone behind my machine, run it under the handle(for tension) of my machine then thread as usual. There is an adapter you can buy that sits behind your machine & this works great.
Hope this helps.

I use Isacord/mettler thread. It's 100% polyester and doesn't bleed.

I use thread from Connecting Threads. I love the way it works in my machine and the price is great.

I love the thread from Connecting Threads also.
Works great on my Pfaff & also my Juki. :-)

I have spools of every brand of thread. I see one I don't have I buy it to try it out. I like them all. Usually when a thread won't work on my machine, it's the needle size that isn't right. I buy Connecting Threads the most for piecing.

Check out the superior threads site. You won't believe the beauties they have there. So many different types.
my favorite? King Tut.

i love the king tut, but it's a little pricey. i do use the superior invisible thread. only theirs, although i hate them all.

i get the sale e-flyers from bayside quilting and whenever they run a good thread sale, you can find me there.
