What would you do with these fabrics?

I have these fabrics and can't decide what pattern to use them for. What would YOU do with them?
ETA: There is about a yard of each, I think 1.5yds of the solid pink. |
Mix them w/some bolder fabrics *smiles* OR a soft, yet sophisticated baby girl quilt! oO or!!!!!!
|
I agee a baby girl quilt would be cute with these. But, I would take away the last three on the right. The one floral is not the right theme for this collection and the other two are too stark. They would make a cute purse or tote bag too. Or a sewing machine cover or really any small project. Sewing case and pin cushion. A hang up jewel case or organizer for your closet. Really the application is limitless in a small project.
|
How about a lap quilt. Try the stack the deck pattern.

Maybe something like this- it uses simple shapes and allows you to keep your fabrics somewhat large.
Pattern is called Bailey's quilt. |

I like those fabrics together! It's a nice blend. Keep them all to add some spark!
|
Make one of my 2 grand daughters a quilt! Love those fabrics!
|
Love your fabrics - keep them all. Love Bailey's Quilt. Your fabrics would loook great in that pattern. (Or send the fabrics to me!!!!!) (Like I don't have enough already.)

I think with a few more fabrics (maybe a mauve & a pale blue) that they'd make a great bargello, maybe something like this one:

i loved your previous quilt http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...p-t212492.html
if you don't mind doing the same pattern again, i like these fabrics. it will look very soft. |
I would do a whack and stack lap quilt. I think all the colors blend well. The darker grey is good contrast.

Now this is funny! I wanted to have you look at a really pretty gray and yellow DP9 and when I went to find it, I see that you made that one! I really like your gray and yellow quilt and I think the pink and gray will finish in the same soft look. I suppose you'd like a different pattern for these, sorry I don't have any suggestions for you. Good luck.
|
I might add that I seem to gravitate to lower contrast quilts. Must be why I like your gray and yellow so much.
|
I would put them in my stash until I needed them. It's nice to have things on hand that blend in. All together in a quilt I think would be very bla.
|
I like your colors together. Sometimes it is nice to have a quilt that doesn't shout at you. Gentle can be very soothing. Sorry that I don't have a pattern suggestion. ..Well, Take Five would look good, but it only needs 5 fabrics...so maybe Yellow Brick Road or something similar?

I like that pattern, where might I find this pattern for Bailey's quilt?

So would I. They are nice but I think they need a fabric with the same colors that have a bit more Punch to it.

Here is one store that sells it. You can see that it works with many types of fabrics. http://www.henfeathersquilts.com/Pro...uctCode=TCD002 |
I think they would look good with Bailey Quilt.
|
I would add another fabric or two for contrast. These all seem to be the same value to me.
|
I'd make pinwheels - darks on lights, and lights on darks. Put a thin border around it with the extra pink.
|
I'd take the four on the left shopping with me and look for a brighter focus fabric or other coordinating fabrics. Those four are all toned (grayed), but you wouldn't have to stick to toned fabrics for the rest of the group. A green and pink fabric would add some punch. Even a toned green (the complimentary color) would be a welcome addition.
I'd put the three on the right back into my stash to use for neutrals in another project. One always needs neutrals! |
All those colors are terrific...they will make a soft looking quilt. If you want it to be "stronger," maybe add a darker shade of pink?
Helovesme: would you share the name or where I can purchase that pattern? It looks like one that would be fun to do. |
First off, do what you like, unless it's for someone in particular, then do what they like.
Having said that, I like very simple designs and the "Modern Quilts" fit me perfectly. They use a lot of solids and especially grey. |
what would you do with this fabric?
The Pink in the middle would be beautiful in a Spring Wall hanging with Tulips. Maybe make a great big Tulip paper-pieced and some surrounding Violets, ect, with some of the rest. They are too pretty not to use!
Mariah. |
I've never made a dresdan quilt, but I think your fabrics might just work on one of those too. I would probably add a couple of bolder fabrics, but I like bold.
|
Hi, just thought I would jump in, I am new here and feeling my way around. You have chosen some soft, pretty fabrics to quilt with. I like your color choices. Do you like to applique? For me I am an applique nut. I start piecing and wind up adding applique to everything I do! LOL. Personally, I would add some more white for say twenty- ten to twelve inch blocks- and make a cute Dutch girl twin quilt or maybe a foot of the bed coverlet or lap quilt would be nice. Those patterns are easily found on the internet, and all kinds of cute ones also.
I would take away the one on the end, the blue, and add a soft, solid lavender in it's place to compliment the pink and use them to make the hats, shoes and baskets etc. out of the solids. Also the sashing. The flowers and other fabrics could be their dresses, umbrella or other designs you wanted to create. If you wanted to leave the blue in, you could add a Dutch boy and make his pants and shoes from it. Applique adds all kinds of possibilities to quilting. Just my opinion. Everyone's quilts on here are beautiful. Hope to get as good as some of you eventually. |
There are lots of patterns that can be used scrappily. All but the right hand fabric would do nicely for a varied background.
|
Helovesme.....
I'd like the name of that pattern, too. |
JennyPenny, I love your quilt.
|
LOL, I'm joining the ranks that were going to send you to your very own D9P but was going to suggest doing the scrambled version. I think the darker fabric to the far right would serve as all the center blocks and perhaps you would have enough for a narrow border, too. This would make a good choice to tie the quilt together. If not enough of that one, then maybe use the pink instead since it has extra yardage.
I never tire of D9Ps but if you don't want to make another one so soon, then I think your fabrics would make a lovely soft Hidden Wells quilt. |
On second, and third, thought, I vote for the Hidden Wells quilt. There is a great thread here on the board with a group who are making and have made them. Just do a search for that name and you will see them.
|
I would do a" Take 5" you just need 5 fbrics 5/8 yard each...
