Thanks everyone, I think this has been one of the best questions on the board since I joined!!

I agree and I feel the same way--get really excited about the idea of more fabric and thread! :) I also have learned a lot reading through this thread.

martelli zip bind system for me too....but I love their big cutting mat and ergonomic rotary cutter!

Also, alot of different color threads for piecing.I bought whole collections, even though they are great threads and inexpensive. I could piece with just a few different colors. Most of them have never been opened and I have had them for a few years. They do look nice on the rack on the wall though! LOL

Yes, of course that is the way to do it. However, mine became completely unthreaded. And I gave up in disgust trying to follow the threading path. Usually I can figure anything out but not this paperweight!

same thing happened to me, after trying for days, I had to give in and load the "thing" into the car and drive to the JoAnn's-when they sold viking.....and have the person there do it...it took her all of two minutes max.............now the "thing" sits on an extra table with a cover over it...........big useless investment....now I undertand they are self threading..........

I too do not have room for a big quilting frame. nor the money to pay for it....so when a 50% off coupon was available at JoAnns, I took it in and got the plastic frame they had. I know it looks like a lot of PVC piping, but for $50. I could not make one myself. It does take a bit to move my quilt around on it, (not really that much) but it is so much easier than the hoop someone let me borrow and when I am done, I just put it back in the box. So I am a happy camper..

I have the pvc quilting frame-have had it for many years-I also purchased and extension for it to make it a bit longer and riser to give it the angle like the large frames have. I have hand quilted several quilts on it and love it........but now it is taken apart and stored in corner of quiltcave.......work with a L/A now, but when I want to hand quilt-it can easily be put back together and used....an excellent investment.......and my GO and dies are great too......one has to shop around for good prices for the dies.....if done right, very very little fabric waste...and gives one pieces to work with almost instantly rather than fabric folded "waiting" to be made into something....to each his own........

So realizing just now that it is pushing 20 years old, wow, lot of good from that sale item.

I have been wanting a Flynn Frame and have used them at show demos, think it might be just the thing for quilting the charity baby quilts......but now second guessing that.

I'll bet you could get a Flynn Frame cheap on this site!! :-)

My eze quilt frame. What I really need was a long arm machine I could sit down at.

Bought a Quilt Binding Express (June Tailor?) that is about 6x12, with 3 different size slots to press and fold your binding at this same time. Didn't work for me, at all. Paid about $30, used it once, and now my grandkids use it to paly with their dolls.

I have learned to REALLY consider a specialized ruler of any kind before buying. I have so many that I haven't even used. So now when I am at shows, I ask for the business card, write the booth number and name/description of what I think I want. After the shopping part of the show, if I really want it, I go back. If I am not sure, then I don't buy it. I do, however, still have their info in case I change my mind after I get home.

I do the same, so that I don't get caught up in the excitement of the show/demo. I find that most things I didn't want/need that badly. After a few days home, I have ordered from the vendor directly or checked ebay, if it's a small item like a special ruler. I had a couple of vendors this year offer me free shipping even after the show with a code for their website; which tells me the economy is hurting them. I just don't want to be carrying much through the show. I'd still like to find that diamond ruler (where you fold the fabric back to create 2 colors) I saw as a demo once, but didn't take the card for. UGH!
