I have one too, bought mine in a thift shop it stated only used once....I know why...its to hard to figure out how to thread....that is also my paper weight. I should get rid of it but I keep saying someday I will figure it out.

Never could really figure out how to thread it unless I was following the video, though I did use it one time to make a jacket of vintage barkcloth with antique buttons. Where to start!
Olfa rotating mat. Still in the package. Pounce - I have Asthma, it is a powder. My head was elsewhere that day! Judy Martin's Point Trimmer. I found it, still in the package, behind some... Magic Bobbin Washers. June Taylor Shape Cut - I can see myself bleeding if I try to use this. Small light box - never used. Accuquilt Go - the machine only. I sold it but kept my dies and bought a Sizzix Big Shot Pro. I love my set up. The Go dies work with the Sizzix, they are made well and are accurate, plus I can find them on sale when I need one I don't have. The Sizzix machine handle is so much easier to turn. The only draw back is it has to be out on a table since it doesn't fold - but it doesn't slide or move either! Add a 1/4 rulers. Add a 1/4 double pencil pain in the hind end thing. Those are what come quickly to mind. I'm sure there are more stuck in drawers and cabinets. Best purchase has been a Clover refillable chalk liner. I love the little thing. |

Go to Office Max and buy some "Frixion" pens by Pilot! totally awesome. Marks totally disappear when heat is applied and reappear when item is placed in a freezer. I just did a huge double wedding ring quilt. to restore the marks for quilting, I placed the pressed top in the freezer overnight. To remove the marks so I'm certain they're gone, I use "Shout" spray. Works every time. Only caution: I don't use the red pen as the red doesn't completely come out in the first washing. The blue and black pens are fine. Marks come out great.

I bought a Brother SE400, which is a combo sewing/embroidery. I love both aspects of the machine. But, big but here, when I bought it I didn't realize it had only a 4x6 embroidery area. I'm very limited in what I'm capable of doing with the embroidery.

Why do the ones with Pounce not use it. That was somethng I wanted to try?

I have now purchased 2 Brother sewing machines with 80 or more built in stitches. I love the automatic needle threader and the push button on/off so I don't have to use the pedal to sew. My compliant is that the first one had the motor freeze up after 2 years. I took it back to Costco and they replaced it (thankfully!) and now 2 years later my Brother is beginning to make a grinding sound. I just don't think they are made for heavy duty sewing. I can't find anyone that works on them.
I'm replacing it with the $500 Viking that has the same features but fewer stitches. I use very few decorative stitches and I trust the Viking quality. I love the Accuquilt Go! but I have arthritis and it really helps with cutting. I don't like Pounce, The Simplicity strip cutter/ or the June Tailor strip template. My Grace frame for hand quilting was a huge waste of money. |

The FabuMotion Fabric Mover for FMQ on my Viking Sapphire. When demo'd it made FMQ look so easy-just gliding along. Well, in three yrs I've used it a total of 3 hours (and it takes me 1/2 hr to set up). The quilting space is so small--about 8 or 9" so you're constantly moving and repositioning the quilt. It's in the box under the bed so I stub my toe on it every night going to bed--a constant reminder to "think and try out" gadgets at shows or shops more than once before buying.
And of course, there was the special show pricing and the opened box special pricing so it was $200 less if I got it right now and not later. |
