And why? Seems to me my all-time favorite was Springmaid, which I found in a quilting store quite a distance from me. I may go back there just to look for muslin, but have also been thinking of ordering online -- maybe 3 or 4 different brands in small amounts -- so I can compare them. With so many different muslins on the market, though, I'm not sure which would be the best candidates for an audition.

I still have some of the Springmaid here. It is closely woven, not thin, has a very soft hand and soft sheen to it -- really a delight to work with. I never was able to find it online when I looked, though. This muslin also came in subtly different shades of white and cream. Ummm.....I need to go dig that fabric out and see if there's printing along the selvedge. Maybe it wasn't Springmaid and that's why I've never been able to find it online....

There really is a difference in them.

I use Kona or Moda muslin for quilts and the perm press muslin for quilting projects like placemats, potholder, and tablerunners. I detest the course muslin that feels like starched straw. I will not touch it much less sew with it.

I use the 108" wide permanent press 100% cotton muslin that Walmart sells. It works up nicely and washes nicely too. Nice and soft. I'm not sure who makes it but Springmaid sounds familiar.

Might it be Roc-Lon?

I use Kona. Joann's carries it, so when I need it, I use a coupon and buy enough to last a while.

I use the Roc-Lon..i think it is called. bleashed,unbleached,tea dyed. i but it by the bolt,90 wide when it goes on sale. i wish the tea dyed came in 90 wide,if it doesn, Joanns doesn't carry it in thier stores.

i tried the Kona, it felt so wonderful in my hands, until i washed it..(for a swap it was being used in)..and i could not get the wrinkles out of it.
so i won't buy it again..it is to expensive anyways. i used a coupon when i got a couple yards.
