back in the 80's, I cut open the entire leg inseams, got rid of the bulk, added a wedge of different fabric to fit in the "V", and made long bohemian style skirts...real popular at the colleges, etc up here...some i even embroidered on...

I love making raggedy quilts for the car from them but at the moment all my ladies have been making totes, in all sizes for shopping and holding quilt mats etc. for class, they come out so well and are so hardy. This is a pic of one that I made over 5 years ago, well loved and used :)

Didn't mean to offend anyone with a size 16 or bigger butt. Mine's close to that. But I fortunately have the good taste to not subject anyone to seeing it in a vinyl snake print mini skirt. Just sayin'....

I wear a size 16-18 and if anyone doesn't like what's covering my butt, they don't have to look at it. That said, and to get back on the subject. Does anyone have a pair of those blue patchwork style shorts, if so, here's what you can do with them. I have a pink skirt of this material I got at a yard sale in case I could find a use for it. I think you could use light weight jeans for the sashing.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I loved all your suggestions and web sites. Jeaninmaine, I especially liked the marcias crafty sewing blogspot.

Wasn't that site great, I was on Pinterest and almost everything I liked led to her site.

I just made this quilt from old jeans. The pieces are sewn with 1" strips of black cotton material which means you don't have the heavy seams from the denim. This was backed with fleece for warmth (dd's request for a heavy, warm quilt). I am thinking of making a smaller one & trying to back it with a flannel-backed vinyl tablecloth. It would make a good picnic blanket, and the vinyl would keep it from getting damp on the ground.
