What's the best batting for Baby Quilts
Hi. I am wondering what would be the best batting to use in Baby quilts? I want them to be warm, but not heavy.
Thanks !! |
i usually use warm and natural or warm and white. i sometimes omit the batting altogether and just use fleece for the backing.

For a small baby, I use the same batting used for table toppers and place mats. The really thin stuff. I have also used 100% cotton terry cloth diaper material, especially in summer. It's light and it breathes well.

I love Quilters Dream!!!

I agree, thin cotton batting with good secure stitching. Hand or machine quilted, it needs to hold together through many, many, many machine washes, with no thread loops that could catch in baby's little fingernails. I stopped using puffy poly batting many years ago when I realized it deflates eventually and gets all flat. Just my experience. You may disagree.

I use warm and natural for everything....love the way it feels! You can quilt up to 10" apart with it!

Quilters Dream has a batt specificaly designed for baby,

I use polyester batting for everything.

One of the things I like is to use fleece for the backing with no batting. Warm, washable and easy to do. I just sewed mine around the edges, right sides together, turned it right side out and top stitched around the edge. Then you can add some quilting which doesn't need to be elaborate.

I like Dream Angel for baby quilts.
