Between Felt and Fleece?

sahm4605 11-20-2010 11:17 AM

felt is harder and fleece is softer? felt is more for decorative work and fleece is better for snuggling up in?

Also fleece has a pile, whereas felt doesn't

Thank you for such a prompt response. Learning is a process, but so is life! MBlades7

Fleece is a synthetic, stretchy, warm, and soft. It has a lot of give to it.

Felt, is made out of wool or synthetics. It doesn't ravel, so it is used in raw edge applique. Some are washable and some are not. It does not have any stretch or give to it. :D:D:D

Felt is pressed or smooshed together ( think of your drier vent screen lint only tighter) rather than woven or knitted. Most fleece I have seen is a knit fabric.

felt is shrunken wool and most fleece is synthetic matierial.

I am thinking felt is a natural wool woven and "felted" and fleece is a synthetic. I bet if we could see the way it is made it would clear all this up quickly. The weight is very different too.
