I'm starting to accumulate quite a bit of fabric and I don't have enough room to store it. I'm looking for a pattern that will take a big chunk out of my stash. Anyone have suggestions for a pattern I can use?

You MUST check out quiltville.com!!! Her patterns are so good, and her tips are great. You will be thinking you don't have enough stash when you see all the possibilities!

String quilts or a scrappy log cabin? You could divide them into light/dark or warm/ cool colors and use many traditionally 2 color patterns

I used up most of my stash with a double wedding ring pattern. It has every color possible in the rings on a white background.

I know! I love Quiltville!

I am making a quilt with lots of half square triangles and flying geese type pieces. I have sewed the second seam across the corners and cut between. Now I have about 300 little half square triangles for a border, or for another project!

And to think of all the triangle trimmings I threw away before I knew about this!

She is a genius.

if you go to bighornquilts.com and click on strip club there are patterns using 2 1/2 inch strips and also fat quarters that uses the stash

You're right, Wendy, I was thinking I didn't have enough stash! :) Her quilts are gorgeous, though.

Dodie, I looked at bighornquilts.com and they seemed a little more do-able for what I can do. So it'll be the next project on the list!

Melissa:
I am currently working on a Roman Strip quilt that uses all scraps. I sew strips of scraps together that are about 2 inches wide then I subcut these strips into sections. The pattern called for 10 1/2 inch sections but not all my scraps are that long so I subcut them into 6 1/4 inch sections and sewed each 6 1/4 section to another until I had the length I needed for the bed then did the same thing for the width. Between each of these long 6 1/4 panels I am using black sashing which really sets off the different colors in my blocks. I plan to post a picture when I get the panels sewn together. I probably used up 10 pounds of scraps in this quilt and I'm thrilled to have used it. The quilt will be a great "utility" quilt...one our Grandbabies can pull around them when they want to cuddle in grandma and granddad's laps or when they want to watch tv on these chilly days/nights.
