What's your quilty resolutions for 2012?

Mine are to 1 - keep up with my BOM/BOW projects (probably NOT gonna happen though); 2 - practice, practice, practice FMQ; 3 - try different applique techniques; 4 - find creative ways to use felted wool; 5 - find time every day to do something quilty, even if only for a few minutes. What's everyone else's quilty goals???

Wanabee Quiltin 01-01-2012 09:00 AM

I want to quilt every day, if only for a few minutes. I want to learn how to use my Janome mid-arm. I want to finish quilting all my tops that are waiting to be quilted on the Janome. I want to be better at FMQ.

mighty 01-01-2012 09:52 AM

Keep up with everything, House work ect. and quilt, quilt, quilt.

Gramie bj 01-01-2012 09:54 AM

Well not buy fabric unless I need it for a WIP or UFO, finish up my WIP and UFO's try to get more cabnets in my sewing- craft area. Learn to make feathers on my Lizzie! Have been trying for a year and still can't get them right. I think thats enough of a challenge for me! LOL

Karenowc 01-01-2012 09:58 AM

I'm pretty good in the finding time to sew department. I do want to finish up UFO's and not start anything new, unless it's needed for a gift. And speaking of gifts, I made so many this year I want to finish up stuff I already have.
Next goal would be to organize my house and studio.

michelled 01-01-2012 09:59 AM

1. make a queen-size quilt for our bed
2. get rid of some fabric that I know I will never use (anyone remember 'stretch and sew' ?? LOL)
3. make a quilt for DD either for their bed or for their living room naps on the couch
4. make a wallhanging that might be even remotely as gorgeous as the ones my friend makes
5. finish organizing my sewing room (maybe this one should be first!)

Marni 01-01-2012 10:02 AM

I hope to quilt everyday, reduce my stash, and do at least 3 Judy Niemeyer quilts in queen size.

MadQuilter 01-01-2012 10:42 AM

I just want to FINISH some UFOs. My list of quilt obligations is long and even though these are people I really like, having the unfinished project on the list still weighs heavily on me. So TIME TO SUCK IT UP, STOP WASTING TIME, AND GET TO GETTIN'!

catlinye_maker 01-01-2012 10:46 AM

I vow to post to Judy Laquidara's Design Wall Mondays at least 40 times this year, as I work through the projects I have in mind for the year. It's a great way to make progress, since I only post when there's something new to report!

carolaug 01-01-2012 10:49 AM

I blew mine aleady...just came back from the LQS - they had Bali fat qtrs for 1.00 - i was good and only went to that display...all fat qtrs in the store were on sale. - and broke my 50.00 limit...I spent 54.00 - but I did get an awesome deal!

carolaug 01-01-2012 10:54 AM

seam-ripper-sue 01-01-2012 10:58 AM

I hope to save up for a new and better sewing machine so that I can get excited about finishing my numerous UFOs. And to add lots of new fabrics to my stash. Doing both of these would make a great YEAR!

COYOTEMAGIC 01-01-2012 11:03 AM

To figure out who I AM as a quilter. To stop doing everybodyelse's patterns and start making quilts that make ME happy.

gramarraine 01-01-2012 11:23 AM

Finish putting together the tops that I have the blocks made for. If I get all that done it will be a big accomplishment.

raptureready 01-01-2012 11:23 AM

To sandwich, quilt and bind some of the gazilion tops that are already pieced.
To take the blocks that are pieced but I no longer want to make the quilt and make table toppers of them.
To get rid of more of my stash by making bazaar items.
To totally rid myself of some of the things that I have in order to get my upstairs into sewing rooms that are functional for something other than just storing a huge stash.

carolaug 01-01-2012 11:30 AM

Here is a really awesome techique using cookie cutters. http://www.thriftyideastoday.com/201...-cutters.htmlI am waiting for my felting tool. I bought at joanns online with coupon. johanka 01-01-2012 12:06 PM

I want to start sewing for Christmas using my stash.

nhweaver 01-01-2012 12:18 PM

I want to try fmq on my husky, finish 10 donations quilts for David's House (10 year cancer remission gift), reduce my stash, only buy fabric for a specific purpose, qoos (quilt out of stash) whenever possible, finish UFO's, and visit all the favorites under quilting and eliminate some (over 100+ sites).

dunster 01-01-2012 12:37 PM

You all have such good resolutions and high hopes for the new year. I plan to practice, practice, practice on the longarm, stop wasting so much time that could be productively spent, and use up some of my stash.

joyce888 01-01-2012 12:50 PM

Mine is to do quilts that I've already settled on a pattern and have the fabric. Make pillowcases for ConKer Cancer between making quilts. Start my Halloween and Christmas quilts six months before the date.

luvstoquilt 01-01-2012 12:59 PM

I am going to keep a notebook of projects I want to do and projects I am working on so I will always have my wants and needs when I go shopping, etc.

Jackie Spencer 01-01-2012 12:59 PM

When my daughter had her Bridal Shower, I gave her her hand pieced queen size quilt top( over 3000 pieces) after the shower she gave it back to me to hand quilt. That was 18 years ago. I have about 2/3 of the hand quilting done. I want to finish it this year before their anniversary in Sept. and give it to them.

Sandra in Minnesota 01-01-2012 01:23 PM

I would like to finish a BOM that I started last August (not so very far behind). This is doable.

ksdot417 01-01-2012 02:56 PM

Mine is to finish at least 2 kits, keep my sewing space organized-cleaning after each project, and get my fabric, books and patterns organized. I also have a list that I hope to stay focused on.

reginalovesfabric 01-01-2012 03:16 PM

I have 30 tops ready to quilt and I want to GET THEM DONE, and to start 30 more. I am NOT going to quit buying fabric everyone has a vice and mine is fabric buying.

memepat 01-01-2012 03:47 PM

This year I would like to do the following things:
1. Clean organize quilting room, organize fabric and clean up after each project.
2. Finish a quilt for a friend - Christmas gift
3. Make a quilt for my daughter's 40th birthday (March)
4. Stay on task with quilting friends.
5. Quilt at least 4 tops that are completed this year.

That sounds like enough for now. Happy quilting to all.

NDQuilts 01-01-2012 04:05 PM

I am hoping to make forward progress on my DJ, complete three quilt tops, and hand quilt one.

Pam B 01-01-2012 04:23 PM

1) Start working through my small projects that are in various stages. (I am good at starting something not finishing it.)
2) Take a few tops to be long-armed.
3) Bind the 2 quilts that need to be bound.
and this is the most important...
4) Set aside one evening a week (from after I get home from school till I head to bed) and spend it in my sewing room! Maybe then I might accomplish some of my above goals.

misscarol 01-01-2012 05:05 PM

Try to piece everyday.
Work on one UFO a month.

lots2do 01-02-2012 07:50 AM

First of all, start relaxing and enjoying the process more. Less worry about perfection, more completion.
Pam B- I had a similar thought. If I could go straight to my sewing space a few days a week after work (teaching), I could get so much more done and I bet, be a happier person.

Mad Mimm 01-02-2012 08:23 AM

There are some wonderful goals listed here. I do hope at the end of 2012 we re-visit this post and see how we all did with our resolutions!

Mine are:

1) Complete (without falling more than one week behind) my first Block of the Week adventure;
2) Practice FMQ as much as possible;
3) Spend time in my sewing room at least 4 times a week; and,
4) Learn a new technique (maybe applique?).

I am excited about this year - I think it is going to be a good quilty year!

bcross 01-02-2012 08:44 AM

1. Complete my Michael Miller BOM this year (2012) that will be starting next month without falling behind.
2. Finish my 2011 Michael Miller quilt (ready to go on the longarm) and start the matching bedskirt and finish the 2 pillow shams.
3. Teach a monthly Sylvia's Bridal Sampler and complete 80 blocks.
4. Learn to foundation piece.
5. Finish my cousin's Turning Twenty quilt (cut out ready to piece).
6. Complete a queen size Turning Twenty quilt for my DS and DDIL.
7. Become active in the quilting quilt I joined. (It is in Little Rock, AR a 3 hr drive from me. They have a lot of outside speakers and some workshops I want to take.)
8. Have fun!

Ps 150 01-02-2012 10:19 AM

Finish my Christmas quilting before December!! That's not setting the bar too high, is it??

SnowQuilt 01-02-2012 11:12 AM

Just to finish my UFO's. :)

Milli 12-10-2012 07:40 PM

#1 quilt everyday that there is white stuff on the ground and make them keepers for me?
#2 learn to paper piece.
#3 stop buying quilter vitamins.

I've never had good luck with this one!:D

My resolution is to buy more Batiks. A lot more. I have all manner of prints but I never make anything out of them because nothing strikes my fancy so they sit. When I go fabric shopping I buy blenders trying to make something work, then stroll by the Batiks and think of all the things I could make with them. When Batiks go on sale I'm going to replace my print fabrics for equal Batik yardage and donate the print fabric to charity.

QM 12-11-2012 03:23 AM

1. make at least 20 quilts for foster kids
2. reduce my UFOs
3. complete design projects

nygal 12-11-2012 04:07 AM

I want to quilt using my STASH. I really do NOT need more fabric.

booklady1952 12-11-2012 06:03 AM

I resolve to quilt several things for ME!!!!! Seems like I've been on a roll to do projects for others lately.

nhweaver 12-11-2012 06:18 AM

Oh my - my quilting goals (resolutions) for 2013, to finish 2-3 UFO's, buy no new fabric unless in dire need of a fabric fix, reduce my quilting book/magazine library, sell some fabrics and books, organize my fabrics, make 10 charity quilts, become a "quilt for kids" co ordinator for the Eastern Shore/Delmarva.
