I was wondering about this as I finished a quilt for a door prize at my daughter's school. I always sign the quilts I make that I keep and also those that go to family and friends. But what about charity quilts? I sometimes do (keeping it small and inconspicuous) and sometimes don't, but when I don't, it somehow feels like I'm sending the quilt out "unfinished". And what about when you're commissioned to make someone a quilt - do you sign the back on those?
I would love to get your thoughts on this and how you approach signing your quilts. |
All artists sign their works of art  :D:D:D

ALWAYS! If you don't want to use a full label, make up your own "mark" that you put on your quilts and put it in the same place on all your work. I think it is really important to at least put the year that the quilt was finished on the quilt.
I make the raffle quilts for my church, and I put a label on the back telling that it was a church raffle quilt, the year, our location and the title of the pattern. Celebrate your work! |
The Amish in our area put their initials and the date.
