One idea I would like to suggest is this:
The 'next Christmas' stuff that we all want or have started you might want to do some of the smaller, faster projects that are more generic...meaning, they aren't really for anyone in particular, but are among the throngs of gifts you give to neighbors, co-workers or friends. These might include candle mats, place mats, mug rugs, hot pads... I usually go ahead and wrap them and put a label on so I know what it is. I have trouble formulating what I want to make my family and friends for the next year, but these gifts cover at least some of the ones I'll need. |
you are about as welcome asking that question as I am when I ask the mother of a week old baby: When is the next one due?
   I can't start next year's Christmas quilting yet, since I haven't completed Christmas 1980 yet!!! <wave> |
Now, it's never to early!

right now I have 40 various size quilts from baby to twin finished and about 30 afaghans from baby to full size. Most of the quilts are going to the hospital and some afaghans to meals on wheels. Project Moses will be getting there quilts tomorrow. Next week Sr Nora will take the rest of the afaghans for hospice. This has been a years worth of "sanity" time. Illness' and surgerys have kept me house bound and I can't watch TV without something in my hands. My kids say it's a good ting I don't have a cat around because balls of yarn are all over the place! No, I'm not bragging, they just get put away and then one day I pull everything out and see what's there. Church bulletins are always needing something for someone. Couldn't get them out for Christmas but everyday can be Christmas for someone. Hope you all enjoyed your holidays and have a happy new year.

life gets in the way not in the 'sewing' mood idea come up in Dec! So when do you 'try' to start? I make quilts all year and sell them during November and December.I give myself the month of December off for vacation.By then my hands need it.I make the quilt tops with my sewing machine. I quilt and bind them by hand. |
You have got to be kidding I haven't even finished this years.

Since last post 1 scrapper, as I call it, was finished. My neighbor's dog burnt his front paws and won't be walking much for awhile. He's so cute and just loves attention and looked so unhappy. Just a little TLC. Enjoy what your working on.
