Can someone tell me where I can buy Retayne. Several say that I should soak my batiks in it. Certainly don't want to take any chances. Thanks ladies.

Most LQS carry it you can buy it online too. :D:D:D

Your LQS should have it or you can order it online. Not sure if JoAnn's will have it.

That was fast. I will try Joann's soon. Won't be tomorrow. I'm smarter than that (I think). Cyber Monday, you know. LOL Many thanks again.

Would some one explain Retayne and how to use it and what it is for? Thanks

or try www.dharmatradingco.com
retayne keeps the colors sharp in your fabrics, then another product synthropol helps lift out excess colors that could ruin your quilt in the wash.

I thought Retayne was used for setting the color so it wouldn't bleed. Now I'm a bit confused. Please explain.

The lady at my LQS said they use both interchangeably. That they both do the same thing. So now they only carry Synthropel .

Yes, this is true. Check this out here http://www.pburch.net/dyeing/FAQ/fixative.shtml

And just FYI, here is some information about Synthrapol
http://www.pburch.net/dyeing/FAQ/fixative.shtml

For batiks and other dark fabrics, I tend to soak them in warm water for a while and see if they bleed, I also rub them while wet with a piece of muslin, if they I don't see any color bleeding in the water or muslin, I just wash them like normal, if I see color bleed, I wash them in Retayne following the instructions on the bottle.

I hope this helps.
