I have one of those thread domes. In fact I forgot that I even had it till this thread. It really works when I want to take a project on a trip. I don't have to worry about trying to thread a needle while we are driving down the road. Before we leave I can thread up about a dozen needles and I am all set.

I have done just that--seems to work fine, until my kitty decides to either play with the threads, or wants to climb up into my lap. Also, I have to remember to remove any needles that are left over. I wouldn't want her (or DH or me) to get hurt on them...

Check out cross-stitch supplies. I haven't cross-stitched in several years, but used to have a card with a magnetic strip to hold needles.

I use a magnet big enough to hold as many needles as I am going to use. They stay untangled because you can lay the magnet out beside you and when you need to pack it away they will stay on there and do not get very messed up. It is very easy just to smooth out the threads the next time you need them,

I have a magnet thing that I got at Joannes called Needle Nest. It has a hinged lid, so after I thread my needles I close the lid till it snaps and let the tails hang out.

My DSinL had a cat that swallowed a threaded needle. It took a lot of surgery and a lot of money to fix things. The cat did make it but now she's super careful.

i go ahead and string numerous needles onto my thread...still on the spool, with the very last one poked into the paper on top of the spool, or into a pin cushion. when i need a new needle i just grab the first one, pull out the length of thread i need, clip it off and leave the rest of the needles threaded on the spool :thumbup:
