I normally always spray my fabric on my ironing board. However it makes my cover as stiff as a board. I need a new place.
Where do YOU starch your fabric at?

Outside. Just fold in half..spray. Flip and spray again. Have new hardwood floors and don't want residue on flooring. Have also srayed in the garage too.

I use the concentrate , mix up a solution then put the fabric on a rack to dry. I get much more even results, by soaking or dipping.... no starch mess on the iron,or board cover. There is not always time to "pre-starch" so I do have a bit in a spray bottle , and spray on the reverse side of my cutting mat. It comes off with a damp cloth.

i have a retractable cloths line that spans the length of my sewing room.

DH hung it up higher so i could walk underneath it without bending.

i hang all my stuff there and spray.

I don't mind the ironing cover getting starchy. No big deal to me. I either wash it or get a new cover. I use a big board for pressing yardage and a Steady Betty for pressing quilt blocks and pieces.

Outside on the clothesline, or if the weather is too bad, I hang the fabric over the shower curtain and starch it there.

I place a cover over the ironing board and then put the fabric on top of it. Then I spray the starch.

Thank you for asking this question. I was just going to post. I avoid starching because I do not want my ironing board sticky or the wooden floor.

Like you, I just spray starch on my ironing board. I've never noticed any problems from it.
