Hi all -

A few months ago, I made one of those cool fabric books for my friend who has a baby. I did the majority of it by machine, but then had to hand stitch one part closed. So I took it to my very boring school council meeting, since that's where all my hand craft projects go to get finished.

One of the people commented afterward that I should sell the books. I'm sure I could find interested people, since they are so darling, and they're fairly easy to make and the panel is fairly cheap. I'm just having trouble on coming up with the "where" to sell them. I don't think quilt shops would make sense, since quilters would go "oh that's so cute - I can save the money and make one myself". I don't want to rent out space anywhere, since the goal is to make money rather than spend it to get started... so I don't know...

Thoughts/idea??

Thanks!

Word of mouth around your area? Let people know at your school council meetings... Start an online site where potential buyers can see all that you have available.. even out of town family/friends of theirs could see them and order, too! I wish you luck!!!

Are there Christmas boutiques in your area? It costs something to display your wares, but I fabric books might sell well around Christmas. I would imagine there are lots of grandmothers out shopping for little ones then....

Our high school hosts an annual crafts fair in the spring. You do have to buy table space, but I think the cost is reasonable. For that, though, you would probably need more variety to create an attractive display. In the boutiques, your books would be surrounded by other items for sale so display wouldn't be a problem.
