Where do you start when machine quilting. I am planning on doing SID. I know with hand quilting the general advise is to start in the middle and work your way out. Due you do the same with machine quilting? I am working on a baby sized quilt. Can I start on one edge and work across to the other edge or do I start in the exact center of the quilt and work my way out?

Start in the center and work your way up, then down and then to the sides.
This should keep you from getting puckers. :D:D:D

I have started in the middle and worked out. I don't know if that is the right way or not. I have always heard that if you start in the middle and worked out to the edge of the quilt there would be no puckers. Maybe some one else can answer with a better answer.

Going from one side to the other, can shift your layers and cause puckering. Just saying :D and from experience too lol

I start in the middle and go out, which means I do the quilt in 4 quarters. so far so good.

My method is to quilt from the center out. It has worked well for me.
