My oldest son has fond memories of my husband and I reading this classic book to him...many times over! When I asked him about making him a quilt he found a pattern he liked ( a little on the scrappy side) but couldn't identify a color palette. Then he said..."oh, use colors that are in my favorite book...Where the Wild Things Are". I'm planning on searching now for colors similar to those in the book but sure would love to include some figures/characters/scenes from the book if at all possible. Anyone have an idea where I could find if such fabric is available?

I've never seen the characters printed on fabric, but I think that you could get some of the jungle type and other background fabrics. Maybe mix with some solids. That would be a difficult one for me. Good luck. Would he settle for maybe a wall hanging and then he could pick another childhood memory for his quilt?

Photocopy a page from the book onto fabric, and use that.

Is there a children's coloring book for this? If so, you could use it to make some applique designs. Someone posted about this in either pictures or tutorials. She did her quilting designs this way.

Karen I just purchased Where the Wild Things Are fabric at JoAnn Fabric. I bought some to make a Christmas stocking for my soon to be son-in-law whose favorite childhood book was that book. They had about six or seven different prints and a flannel and a throw kit. If you don't have the fabric store in your city perhaps check it out online...Labor Day shipping was only 15 cents this weekend.
