I just finished my first PP wall hanging,

The colors in it were light blue & a print with black and light blue in it and the other color was Black.I used a off white thread and now I can see the thread on the part where the black is, right next to the light blue. so all the seam lines of the black show off white thread.

Anyone know of some way to fit this so it does not show, I don't like the way it looks and I worked so hard on it. This was going to be put in our fair, now I don't think so.

I was thinking of a Sharpie in black, anyone have any different ideas. Thanks for any help.

If you enter it in the fair and have used a Sharpie, they may eliminate you. Those judges are pretty good at spotting such things.

My quilt teacher taught me to use a light grey because it tends to blend in with all colors. I hardley ever use white anymore, but I do use colors that match teh fabric.

Bummer this happened. Can you make another hanging and get it done in time?

I'll give it a try and see if I can get another wall hanging done, I have a week to get it done and this one took me about 2 weeks. I know what I'm doing now so it may go faster.

I didn't know what the judges look for in a wall hanging. Would they be able to see a sharpie on it?

I wouldn't use a Sharpie but I'd use a Pigma pen. The Pigma pens are archival at least and they don't bleed and they have tiny tips so you can keep the color exactly where you want it.

Where would I get a pagma pens, JoAnn's or maybe Wal mart? Walmart is closer to me, JoAnn's is 45 mins away,
I never hear of them before......

The back of my multi-color Sharpie box says Not to use for fabric. So I don't use them, just in case they bleed.

One thing I have learned when paper piecing is the pressing ... can sometimes stretch the thread and it will look like the tension was too loose and resulting in the seam thread showing. It typically happens when joining two "units' together and there is the most bulk. This can also happen when removing the papers. Avoid stressing/stretching the seam/thread. Use the smallest stitch to get the most perforations in the paper, and check your needle size. Different fabrics will react differently in paper priecing, so do make a small sample withthe thread and the thicknesses and the needle. Sometimes I find the smallest needle works the best ( this is counter intuative). If you are pressing each piece as you go and if you use steam the steam and or starch the mosture will allow the thread to stretch through all of the thickenesses. There is one more method, and that is to remove the papers in the units prior to joining and pinning the junctions/match points.
As for making adjustments now ... you could try to re- stitch exacty over your existing stitch line.... but this is probably not the option you are looking for.
I have done the fine marker thing myself.
I am anxious to see the other solutions that get posted.

I'll try these things on the one I am making now, I have about a week for the fair so I have to really get PP. The other wall hanging I used a pagma pen and it looks good it covered up the white thread. But I don't want that one for the fair so I'm making a new one.
