In July, a thread was posted about adopting a new quilter as a quilting mother or buddy? I know there were LOTS of posts. I was wondering if everyone found a match with another quilter or are there still those out there who could use a buddy. I would like to get a list together of those who need help or a buddy and one for those who are available to be a buddy. How does that sound? Would everyone work with me?

mzsooz 08-15-2010 07:37 AM

Great idea!

MissM 08-15-2010 07:51 AM

I would like to be e adopted. ;-)

Sadiemae 08-15-2010 08:35 AM

I think it sounds like a great idea!

dphelps 08-15-2010 08:46 AM

Miss M, I will put you on the list.

amma 08-15-2010 08:55 AM

Thank you for taking this over, I know there are many who will be greatly appreciative :D:D:D

Joyce 08-15-2010 08:56 AM

I would be happy to help anyone who needs help, or adopt an individual that needs help.
I could answer questions on most any type of sewing or the use of their machines.

lbc 08-15-2010 09:06 AM

I have only been quilting about 5 years so I still have lots to learn, but I have also learned so much. I'd be willing to help (if I can) but would love to have people to go to if I had a question.

DeniseP 08-15-2010 09:17 AM

I have quilted for my children in years past, but would like to be adopted since things have changed so much since my kids were small.

magnolia 08-15-2010 09:21 AM

I'm a little confused. What does it mean to be adopted?

DeniseP 08-15-2010 09:27 AM

It means a quilter with experience will help you out when you ask. Kind of like a buddy system.

C.Cal Quilt Girl 08-15-2010 09:30 AM

I don't mind adopting can sign me up, far from knowing all but will try to help... have been sewing quilting several years. :)
Have found it useful to just throw the question out, often many useful suggestions come back.
Have at times felt adopted by all!! :)

dphelps 08-15-2010 09:31 AM

That is correct. If you need help or want to help out, this is the place to be. Many of us have quilting buddies but many still do not. Hopefully this list will help pair you up with someone.

Joyce 08-15-2010 09:36 AM

I am blessed! I have adopted DeniseP (Grasshopper) :D

DeniseP 08-15-2010 09:48 AM

Thank you, Joyce. You are so sweet!

brookemarie19 08-15-2010 09:51 AM

I think I would like to be adopted. I have only finished two quilts and have made two tops that need to be since may of last year. I have learned alot just by watching this board, but know there is so much more to learn (I have joined the group that is doing the Farmer's Wife Sampler just so that I can learn more) I am a person that wants to eventually know how to "do it all" as others say. I know I can machine piece and am learning how to hand peice. As far as the quilting, I am totally chicken and am afraid to even try. I also want to learn how to applique and paper piece. I guess what I am trying to say is that I am totally new and don't know much but want to learn so much more (that is when I have time and my 4 kids want to coroperate with me  )

Katia 08-15-2010 09:51 AM

Someone could adopt me. I am very new to quilting, even though I have sewn garments and crafts since I was a kid. This is a whole new learning curve for me.

C.Cal Quilt Girl 08-15-2010 09:58 AM

Come on brookmarie19 and Katia, you can be twins for me, PM any time will help if I can. If we all get stuck will ask one of the other pro's !!
:)

Maksi 08-15-2010 09:59 AM

Well I like to be adopted too. I'm quilting from 2008 but don't have so much experience because most of the time I work by hand. And I want to do all my projects at the same time and thats why my work is not as neat as it should be. I want to improve my skills and also my machine sewing skills.

Thank you so much C! My daughter just laughed because I said I now had a twin  She thinks I'm weird because she has now entered the tween years since she is 11. She is also learning how to quilt and I'm loving every minute of it.

C.Cal Quilt Girl 08-15-2010 10:12 AM

Great, have a person in real life working with, she's doing well, were up to full squares layed it out on the floor and she can see how the pattern is coming together, Think I have a convert :)
Your daughter sounds sweet, a new Quilter Yay !! :)

dakotamaid 08-15-2010 10:12 AM

I am far from a professional and don't have alot of time right now but would love to adopt someone who is a beginner! PM me or sign me up with someone. I am now in Iowa in the process of moving to Nebraska. (Moving ourselves so is taking months literally!!)

Minnesewta-sam 08-15-2010 11:10 AM

I'm not a beginner, but I know a little bit about a lot of things. But there are several areas of quilting that I am lacking knowledge in. However, I would like to find a quilting sister/brother to bounce things around with. Thanks!

G_Rich 08-15-2010 11:16 AM

I'm a new quilter, and would like to be adopted.

sewhappy30 08-15-2010 11:36 AM

I would like to be put on the list of needing to be adopted.

Thanks

Sadiemae 08-15-2010 11:48 AM

I am forcing myself to not be on the computer as much so I can get some things done, but I still check quite often. I am not an expert, but I have made quite a few quilts and would love to adopt a beginning quilter. I have taught beginning quilting a couple of times. I don't have a job at the present time and I don't have a lot of friends now that I don't teach, so if you want me I am here.

dphelps 08-15-2010 11:55 AM

Joyce, would you still like to adopt someone else as well? I am getting everyone's name down and will compile the lists and let everyone know soon.

I would LOVE to be adopted. I am in the midst of my first quilt. I have little sewing experience and I am doing this based on directions from a book. I am housebroke (LOL) and I don't bite. :-)

For anyone who is uncertain about being adopted or adopting ---trust me, you'll love it!! Adopting my QD (quilting daughter) has been so fun! & the sharing we are doing about our lives makes my day!
Luv ya Lori:)

JacquelineVH 08-15-2010 12:32 PM

I would love to be adopted!

wolf3349 08-15-2010 02:41 PM

I would like to be adopted. I have only been sewing for a little over a year now. Need all the help I can get.
Most of my quilts are scrap- or-pieced quilts from patterns.
I,ve need to learn more.

ReRe 08-15-2010 02:45 PM

I am willing to adopt someone. I have had a wonderful lady adopt me and I want to pass on all the knowledge that she has taught me and will continue to teach me. I consider myself an intermediate quilter.

sewhappy30 08-15-2010 02:47 PM

Thanks dakotamaid for adopting me.

I'm looking forward to our journey.

wolf3349 08-15-2010 02:56 PM

I just joined the board, but would love to be adopted.

I guess I could try this adoption thing out. So I would like to be adopted. Hopefully they can encourage me in the busy semester to come. I have a lot of Christmas projects to do and I will be graduating this Fall. Hopefully starting my credential program in the Spring. I will need someone to help keep me on track and to not stress myself out too much :)

lynndianne 08-15-2010 04:50 PM

I would love to be adopted......please, please, please.

Lynn
