what kind of patterns are you making with layer cakes? i have found a couple patterns, but looking for input from those who have made projects using cakes.....???

I love using layer cakes! So much fun!

I have a Breakfast at Tiffany's layer cake and will make a rail fence after watching the MSQC video.

It's an excellent pattern - the offcuts from the half hexagons are used up in the border strips, so there was no waste. There are several other good ones in the book too. |
Moda Bakeshop has some patterns also.

I use layer cakes to make the 1/2 square triangles. The 10" are perfect sizes.

I'm making one right now, Taffy Pull free from pieplate patterns.
I'm using a very bold Robert Kaufman layer cake. I screwed up the cutting, confusing C & D. Had to trim blocks but results are cool. I'll post when done. |
