In the Fons and Porter Easy Quilts magazine for summer 2009 there is a beautiful wallhanging made from Northcott Heavenly Hollyhocks panel and fabric. The kit is shown in the back of the magazine. I called and wanted to order it and was told it wasn't available even though it was advertised. The fabric wasn't available either. Okay so I asked about another quilt kit that was in their Love of Quilting mag. No it wasn't available, not even a listing for it and it never was available. Anyone have any luck getting an advertised quilt kit from Fons and Porter?

They are on my naughty list....ever since they became involved with Quilter's of America or whatever it is called....just a personal issue of mine
I have had an issue with things not being available with other places...sometimes the fabric doesn't come in when it was supposed to...patterns don't get printed up in time...

I just tend to drool over the Fons & Porter quilt kits -- have never tried to order one. Have you checked out their web site?

I haven't tried to order anything from them and didn't know about the issues. I might think twice about it when and/if I do want something from them though.

I ordered and made their Pink Dogwood kit about 2 years ago. Didn't have a problem with it. You do have to have the issue that the quilt is featured in so you have the directions. The fabric was wonderful and there was plenty.

But it seems pretty bad to advertise a kit and have nothing available.

I got a subscription to their magazine...I got the first few issues fine and then I stopped receiving them.
I emailed them and they sent me the missing ones, even though I asked for my subscription to be extended since I had bought the issues.
Needless to say, I didn't renew!
Also, we went to a local store because of a patio set advertised. We were told they didn't have it, called the other locations...Nope, they didn't have it either.
Then why advertise it on sale or for sale?
I don't get it!!!

I've never tried to order from them. I like their magazine though.

I had a subscription to their magazine as a gift. I didn't renew only because I would get the issue the middle of the following month that it expired. Wasn't worth it to me.

After seeing the price of quilt pattern go up in price, most are $12 now, I think quilt magazines are a great value for the patterns that are published in them. I just get frustrated seeing new items or fabrics advertised and not be able to find them anywhere. I like to buy off the newsstand, I can get a different magazine every month. I really like the Quilt magazine and end up buying that one often.

I would love to be able to do that.
The bookstore we have here...IF you can call it a book store...sells pretty much nothing. Magazines are mainly the wedding ones, mens, house beautification...no craft magazines whatsoever.
Our exchange sells ONE quilt magazine. They get 10 copies in. If you aren't there the minute it comes on the shelf, you are pretty much out of luck. There used to be 3 quilt magazines, but they downsized the "womens section" and added more cars/mens magazines.
I have asked if they could order more than 10 copies AND more quilting mags, but was told they have no space for it. Right now, anything that has to do with crafts, has 2 shelves...3 feet wide. That's it. Sucks!
