Our applique group is experimenting with doing celtic bias binding applique. What is the most common width to use for this? Any other suggestions are appreciated, too! Thanx

I think it's 1/4 inch, and so much cheaper to make your own than purchasing it.

To make your own: Philomena Wychech recommends 1 1/4".
Fold in hallf wst, stitch i/4" and press on pressing bars with stitching under the bar. I remains hiden. Use bias to be able to curve and bend at points of design

I haven't done Celtic but have done stained glass (see my avatar! :-D ) I have one of the clover gadgets that makes a scant 1/4" tape, I cut my fabric on the bias. The gadget is good but I saw a link on here a while ago of a way to make tape of any width with a needle 'threaded' through your ironing board. I'll see if I can find it. :-D

Found it! This was orignally posted on here by Maksi. :-D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPrFfg9rtmM

For single fold, just miss out the last step. I'm about to try this method this evening to make strips for QAYG. So thanks Maksi! :-D
