Okay, little back story so that you can understand why I am making this quilt when I do not feel like I have the skills.

On Dec. 8th of last year my oldest and I were witness to a fatal motorcycle accident, the young man died on my lap; he was the same age as my son. The mother and I have developed a small freindship and I want to make her a tshirt quilt so here I am with the tshirts and no idea how to start and scared to death that I will ruin what she has left of her son.

I wanted to do something to try and put happy memories of him in my head instead of the one I carry with me.

What did I get myself into? Is there a good pattern someone can suggest, doesn't have to be free. Tips and suggestions will be most helpful. Thanks in advance.

Fons and Porter had a show using the 1" marked fusible interfacing. It was a rerun and I didn't get in on the beginning but you could probably find it on their website. It looked super simple. I am getting ready to give it a try.

I have made several and you will not have a problem making it.....my skills are intermediate....just make sure you wash shirts to make sure the color does not bleed....good luck..

I have made 3 memorial quilts for friends who have lost children/grandchildren. It is gut-wrenching while you are making it, but so rewarding when the families find peace and comfort in your creation. I have never made a t-shirt quilt, so I have no expertise to offer there, but emotionally, just hang in there knowing that it will be a comfort to his family. It is such a wonderful gift you will be giving them

I just made my first t-shirt quilt last week. I used a light weight fusible interfacing first. Then cut the shirts to size. Then I just used the shirts like a normal piece of fabric, but use your walking foot! If the shirts are small, just adjust the size to fit the shirts. For your project, your local quilt store will be happy to help with that, I'm sure. Mine used small adult t-shirts, so I got some sleeve edges in it.
