I am in the process of making some doll clothes (which I did in my pre-quilting life) & I was using my Clover mini iron to press the seams. I hadn't used it for awhile so I forgot how hot it gets. Take it from me never, never pick up the little stand it sits on with your fingers because if it is on for awhile that little sucker really gets hot!!!! I'm going to file that away in my brain file under dumb things not to do! Will try & post pics of the doll clothes when finished.

I'd love to see your pics when the clothes are done. I bought a Clover mini iron to use on doll clothes, but haven't used it yet, so I appreciate your warning about the stand. I hope I can keep Holly, the curious cat, away from it. She jumps on my sewing table constantly. I guess she'll only get close to the iron once. (She hasn't jumped on my curling brush since she landed on it when it was on, poor kitty. )

Ouch!!! A lot of people keep them in mugs instead of the stands.

Ouch! I get the gold star for idiocy though....a couple of years ago I knocked the iron off the board and caught it...won't do that again in a hurry.

Doll clothes seem terribly difficult to me....I would love to see yours when they are finished.

and Quch on the fingers..Hope your fingers aren't to burned and feeling better by now..
Earthwalker, I bet that iron did hit the floor after you caught it, I know if it had been me it would've..

That sounds like a good idea.

A drop of lavender oil on the burn makes them heal quickly. I once burned my hand on the oven (oh, you're NOT supposed to touch the top of the oven, who knew), painfully throbbing. I put on a drop of oil, and my hand was fine, no more pain and the burn healed quickly.

And unrelated thought, Ctrl+Enter is really cool!!

I love the little Clover Iron. I keep mine in a coffee mug so that I won't a) pick it up by the barrel and b) don't have to use the stand. BUT if you accidently put it into your actual COFFEE or TEA, don't panic. Just unplug it, let it completely cool, clean with alchol and it's good to go after that. (Experience speaking) But, your drink MAY BE a bit too hot to drink.
