Approximately 25 years ago I made a travel tote for quilt supplies. Last night I finally finished it. Believe it or not all it needed was one and a half snaps sewn on. Do I get the World's laziest award?

erstan947 11-03-2010 08:29 AM

There are some projects that you just have to be in the mood to finish!:)

WANNABEE 11-03-2010 08:30 AM

That is so true !

KathyAire 11-03-2010 09:25 AM

Carol,

You know that we can't award a medal to you until we see the finished product. How do we know that you are really finished? After all, you've only had 25 years to do it. :) :-) :P :-P

quilt addict 11-03-2010 09:27 AM

Right - pictures please? I am sure I could find one in a box just as silly.

Don't you feel better?

wolph33 11-03-2010 09:41 AM

no award til we see a pic,lol

Vanuatu Jill 11-03-2010 09:47 AM

Done that myself-took a class at my son's school taught by the headmistress about 18 years ago.(this was in Vanuatu)and picked out the UGLIEST fabrics! Still to this day, I don't know what possessed me (pink and black!). It was a queen size as well! Anyway, finished piecing the top and basted it-and then it's ugliness hit me right between the eyes! I put it in a cupboard and forgot about it for 10 years-and never thought about it again. When cleaning out that cupboard I found it and that's when the real quilt bug bit me! I decided to get out my (by now) rusty hand quilting needles and thread (mouldy by then) and see if I really wanted to start again. I actually finished hand quilting that UGLY quilt (no, it never got any better looking!) and decided this was what I NEEDED to do with the rest of my life! My son loved it (he was only about 12 or so) and used it to death (although I made him hide it whenever anyone came over!) Since, I have never looked back! I also in the process, have PROOVED that there is really something known as an UGLY quilt!

Tried using my phone to take a picture but its not going to my computer - problem with downloads. When I finish the rest of my UFO's maybe I'll have time to fix the computer. LOL

TN Donna 11-03-2010 12:57 PM

You have my vote.

WANNABEE 11-03-2010 01:17 PM

Thank you. Thank you. (Taking a bow to roaring applause)

TN Donna 11-03-2010 01:19 PM

Isn't it wonderful when we can laugh at ourselves. I went this morning and got my dentures. I had been without back teeth for 20+ years. I had all of the front one pulled in the earlier part of the year. I have let myself go without teeth and could kick myself for not doing this earlier.

WANNABEE 11-03-2010 01:23 PM

OK you win TN Donna. Hats off to you!

IBQUILTIN 11-03-2010 01:39 PM

Gold Stars from here!!!!! Great project! must figure that one at an inch per year. lol

KathyAire 11-03-2010 03:39 PM

I'm sorry, Carol, I was just fixing to give you an award. That is, until I read Donna's message. Anyone that would go for twenty years without teeth certainly deserves the award. I'm not sure what kind of award that should be, though. Especially if the going without teeth was by choice.

WANNABEE 11-03-2010 04:01 PM

Unfortunately I agree with you Kathy

amma 11-03-2010 07:50 PM

I don't know for sure about 1st place...but maybe in the top 10
I love it!! I bet you can't wait to use it now :D:D:D

WANNABEE 11-04-2010 03:30 AM

Amma, I wish. Actually have no use for it now, there are no LQS nearby, and no classes locally.

Willa 11-04-2010 07:53 AM

I think my UFO might beats yours. I got my grandmother's UFO about 30 years ago and still haven't finished it. Who knows how long it sat before I got it! Oh well :)

WANNABEE 11-04-2010 08:19 AM

Didn't say it was my oldest UFO - LOL - just oldest finished UFO

bakermom 11-04-2010 11:25 AM

Well i feel better now. I started crocheting an afghan while pregnant with my first child. finished it nearly 8 years later while pregnant with my last.

WANNABEE 11-04-2010 11:34 AM

My next UFO is a QAYG hand pieced and hand quilted whole cloth quilt that I think I started 27 years ago for my daughter. All that is left on that is joining the back seams and binding!

wildyard 11-04-2010 06:18 PM

LOL I am not even IN this contest. I don't even have any projects that are as old as anyones newest UFO, I don't think. LOL Hugs and smiles, and happy finishing to all!!

hperttula123 11-04-2010 06:43 PM

lol, atleast you got it done!

JuBee 11-04-2010 07:15 PM

Some projects are like a good wine. They need to age with time.

Judie 11-04-2010 08:21 PM

Wow... I'm in good company.. I see so many beautiful finished quilts and other projects here that I sometimes think I'm the only one who works on one project, then picks up another.. I usually do go back and finish them, but sometimes, like others here, it's years later.. Good for us.. we do finish given enough time!!

WANNABEE 11-05-2010 03:45 AM

Sometimes I just wonder - how much time is enough?
