I have 2 beige fat quarters I want to use next to my red blocks in my log cabin quilt and I can`t get the wrinkles out. I have only cut the red blocks and nothing has been washed. ( This is my first real quilt. ) Any ideas ? Thanks.

Best Press. It is the best for this.

Try putting a teaspoon of vinegar in a cupful of water. Put the mix in a spray bottle and spritz the fabric then iron.

I have hard water.

Or dunk in water and roll it in a towel and then iron it when it's still damp.

Ritas Relics 03-08-2011 06:14 PM

I am going to try that since I don`t use our hard water in the flat iron.

I just use water in spray bottle and spray, sit iron on spot, don't push against my material, seem to have good luck.. and good luck (lol) to you :)

A little white vinegar dabbed on the fabric and then ironed should take the wrinkles right out. Or put white vinegar in a spray bottle and spritz the fabric. Works for me.

Depending on the project, I like to hand wash my fat quarters in the sink. Squeeze out the excess water, shake with a snap, then you can hand or lay to dry. Before it's completely dry, iron. This process gets the wrinkles and fold lines out for me.

I agree. Best Press can be purchased at a LQS and Since I used it the first time and every wrinkle just disappeared, I am hooked. And no residue left behind after ironing. ♥

Are your fabrics all 100% cotton, or a mix of other types?

I discovered Best Press last year and absolutely love it. Comes in different fragrances also. Sometimes Hancock Fabrics has it on sale, too.

Love the Best Press, got it at Hancocks fabrics and they took 50% Joann's coupon. Yea.....

I'd prewash everything if I were you, otherwise you won't be able to wash the finished quilt without a high risk of the red running onto the other fabrics.
